Makio House is a corner unit set in a guarded neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur. The brief was to create a minimalist and cosy interior for the client’s family, suiting their calm lifestyle in the bustling city. The harmony of materials echoes between the terrazzo floor, marble tops, solid timber essence and white walls.
The staircase and double-height column were being re-finished with maple veneer whilst the floor finish was replaced with solid maple timber, creating a centre sculptural piece in the living hall.
The maple timber essence continues towards the mezzanine floor to spark visual connection of the entire space.

This renovated two-story corner terrace house in Petaling Jaya embraces its natural surroundings. Initial site observations highlighted the underutilized corner garden and the desirable rear view of the park, adorned with mature, lush trees. The design concept reimagines the space by opening the house towards the corner, seamlessly integrating the garden as a bridge between the interior and exterior.

The interior design of this bungalow focuses on enhancing its existing layout, which features distinct zones. The ground floor is divided into a front-facing living and study area and a rear-positioned dining and kitchen space, connected by a central staircase that defines the spatial boundaries. This layout inspired the concept of an experiential journey, emphasizing transitions between spaces through the use of rich, dark timber tones.
Each end of the central space integrates functional elements in unique ways, including a daybed, doorway, display shelf with storage, and a kitchen area. These features are seamlessly incorporated into their respective zones and enhanced by mirrors, which create an illusion of expanded dimensions.
The master bedroom extends outward, featuring a private balcony with seating and an outdoor bathtub. This design allows the residents to fully appreciate the tranquil surroundings, especially during sunsets, offering a serene and calming experience.

The house is located in an prestigious neighborhood in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This newly constructed bungalow boasts a built-up area of 5,800 square feet, set on a 12,000-square-foot flat plot. Designed as a singular rectangular block, the two-storey home features double-volume living areas. The design emphasizes maximizing the use of all spaces, including the exterior and rooftop, reflecting the clients’ desire for full spatial utilization. This goal is achieved through elevated intermediary deck spaces that define the house’s edges and accentuate the architectural features.
Scope of Work
1 The front of the house is thoughtfully proportioned, giving a harmonious impression. The entrance is framed by fair-faced concrete walls, standing out against the expanse of white walls, and warmly welcoming guests into the double-volume living spaces.
2 At the rear of the house, the living spaces open to a private garden featuring an old rambutan tree. The pool and lounge area are seamlessly connected to this space, reflecting the client's thought of creating a natural playground for their children.

Inspired by the client’s deep appreciation for Japanese architecture, the design incorporates engawa —a tranquil resting deck adjoining the family room, offering serene views of the Zen garden.

The house design, inspired by Japanese architecture, embraces a minimalist approach with unfinished concrete and white walls. This combination creates a serene, tranquil atmosphere, emphasizing simplicity, clean lines, and a connection to nature.
An open staircase connects the living area to the first floor, where the bedrooms and an open study with a daybed face the side garden.
Continuing upward, the staircase leads to an activated rooftop deck, ideal for entertaining and enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding neighborhood.

Great people. Great instruments. That perfectly sums up Anton Paar, who approached us to design their new office in Shah Alam. Anton Paar develops and manufactures highly accurate analytical instruments that enable customers to understand their materials.
From the iconic reception area to the professional lab showrooms, we worked closely with the client to deliver results that matches the expectations. The design of the pantry, workspaces, and meeting rooms is unified by a harmonious use of Anton Paar’s signature red and grey accents, creating a cohesive and branded environment.
This project marked my first venture into designing for a professional laboratory, and the experience was both inspiring and educational, offering us valuable insight into a specialized industry.

The project aimed to create a modern, practical urban workspace within a tight six-week deadline for a client seeking to incorporate their corporate color scheme.
The layout was carefully designed to include key areas requested by the client: a lounge area, discussion space, and a director’s room.
A key challenge was reusing existing furniture from a Japanese sushi eatery as requested by the client to stay within budget, particularly the curved center platform that had previously been a kitchen bar. We addressed this issue by creatively repurposing the platform into a functional working island, seamlessly integrating it into the new design.

For this project, the client envisioned a Hong Kongstyle café that serves iconic dishes like polo buns. The design combines modern elements with nostalgic touches to capture the charm of old Cha Chaan Teng.
The terrazzo flooring sets a clean, contemporary foundation, while timber paneling on the furniture adds warmth and a welcoming ambiance. To evoke a sense of nostalgia, accents of deep wine red are applied to furniture edges and frames.
