WORK SAMPLE: (HyperLinks)
A. Teaching Sample:
1. My open short course in Fablab
2. Modeling/Animation Thinking - Tutorial in Design Computation 2
3. Computational Community of UVA
Notes:
I taught Design Computation 1 + 2 and BME 6550 as an SIA this whole year and gained some experience in teaching. I am very into method refining and problem-solving. Therefore, I usually could effectively guide students to better workflow to represent their ideas.
B. Design Sample:
1. 7020 Baltimore Bay Studio
2. 7010_Florida Studio
3. 6020_Black Bus Stop Studio
4. 6010 Landscape Modular Design Interface
5. Portfolio-works from 2014-2020 (Study & Practice in Guangzhou & Shenzhen, China)
Notes:
Most of my studio work is exploring methods that interested me during my formal study and practice but have no time to dye deep into. Studio 7020 with Prof. Brian Davis is my latest work. It combines Digital Modeling, Physical Experiment, Algorithm Design, and Website Representation to convert an effective and reasoning proposal for Baltimore Shoreline Improvement.
C. Exhibition Sample:
Exhibition for Benjamin C. Howland Traveling Fellowship
A self-reflective Journey in New Orleans
1. Exhibition Introduction
2. Ehibition Overview
A-3. Computational Community of UVA
Introduction:
Aesthetics in Ancient Greek as “αἰσθητικός”refers to "perceptive, sensitive, pertaining to sensory perception". Today, whenever we talk about intuitive and rational, subjective and objective, we actually talk about Aesthetics. However, unlike these opposing concepts, aesthetics is dynamic as a whole. As human beings, we are mostly intuitive beings first and rational beings after. In information chaos, we need a zone to observe, engage, and position our aesthetics. Learning COMPUTATIONAL THINKING is a powerful way to keep calm in the chaos.
Learning:
This course is focused on "THINKING" but not "TOOL". For example, in grasshopper, we will focus on data structure, algorithm, and how computational thinking helps with design problem-solving. Here are grasshopper wave simulation examples developing from a grid pattern study and point elevation processing without using any plug-in. From 2d to 3d, art to science, representation to experiment, and intuition to computation, there are things waiting for uncovered.
