Nowadays, the terms “quantum physics” and “theory of relativity” are commonly used; but not many truly understand what they really mean. And yet, these theories have had a profound impact on our views on the world. In Physics of the Light, we explore the concepts of physics from ubiquitously known theories, such as Newton’s Law of Gravity, to the latest, String Theory and M-Theory. By tying all these theories with the medium of light, we give the audience a deeper understanding of the unseen reality hidden beyond our perception. Korean (English Subtitles), 51 minutes

William Rowan was an early 20th century immigrant to Canada who became one of his era’s most famous scientists through research on the Dark-eyed Junco. Before Rowan, it was unknown what environmental cues animals used to time the seasonal changes in their biology. How do animals know when it is time to migrate or breed each year? Through a groundbreaking experiment, Rowan discovered “photoperiodism” in animals-but his success didn’t come easily! This segment provides a glimpse into the human dimensions of scientific research, conveys the scientific method, and reveals the first study that made juncos well known to biologists. From the African plains to the American Midwest, this episode explores wild grasslands — home to the greatest gathering places of animal life on the planet, yet among the most endangered places on Earth – requiring hoofs and jaws to thrive. The program introduces Alan Savory and film sequences including elephant conservation in South Africa; the first filmed shots of rutting Saiga antelope in Russia; Norwegian locals regulating the reindeer population in unique ways; and how Americans are saving the country’s most-endangered mammal. English, 54 minutes
