Darwin’s book On the Origin of Species shook the scientific world and far beyond. Yet it was his next book, devoted entirely to orchids, which filled in gaps and firmed up his revolutionary ideas. Orchids have an ethereal beauty, whether growing hundreds of feet up in a misty rainforest or along the verges of busy suburban roads. But their exotic flowers are shaped for just one purpose - to draw in pollinators. Many use sex as a lure, by impersonating a female bee or wasp.

Plum Landing is a multi-platform, indoor-outdoor, science exploration adventure for kids and grownups! It uses animated webisodes, online games, free apps, hands-on activities, and live action videos to help 6 to 9 year olds develop a love for this amazing planet we call home. Plum, a game designer from desolate Planet Blorb, longs to experience nature. She takes her spaceship, zooms to Earth, befriends five Earthlings and launches them on missions in four diverse ecosystems. Plum uses what she learns to create games, and at the Plum Landing website, kids can play these games and are encouraged by Plum to investigate their own worlds.

Poached exposes an obsession that can wipe out a species of birds: illegal egg collecting. Egg thieves rob the nests of rare birds while a United Kingdom national police initiative tries to stop them. The thieves are motivated not by money but by desire for the beauty of the egg and the thrill of the chase. Thousands of eggs confiscated in police raids have been found strapped under beds, beneath floorboards, and in secret rooms. With unprecedented access to the most notorious and inconspicuous perpetrators, Poached delves into the psychology of the egg collectors as they confront their obsession.

Polar bears are the undisputed monarchs of the Arctic wilderness. Their domain is the sea ice, a forbidding, hostile environment, seemingly devoid of life. However, there is one place where this is different: Hudson Bay. It is ice-free for five months every year, marooning the polar bears on dry land. What does a supreme marine predator do on land during the summer? Do they suffer? What do they feed on? Polar Bear Summer tries to answers these questions, following several recognizable polar bears from the start of ice break up in May to the refreezing of Hudson Bay in November.
