HONORS SCHOLARS: CULTIVATE WONDER

Address compelling questions within a community of 40 other accomplished, thoughtful students. Honors Scholars explore connections between subject areas in interdisciplinary team-taught courses that fulfill half of Calvin’s core requirements. As an Honors Scholar, you will be challenged to take risks, supported by a community marked by its commitments to intellectual humility and the cultivation of curiosity and wonder. As an upper-level student, you will develop the skills of a scholar in your specific discipline, completing an Honors thesis or creative project alongside a faculty mentor.

HONORS SCHOLARS PROGRAM FEATURES • Small, interdisciplinary honors courses, each co-taught by two professors • Honors senior thesis or creative project completed alongside a faculty mentor • Upper-level thematic courses • Optional housing in the Honors Floor living-learning community • Honors advising to maximize academic potential (in addition to major advising) • Free 18th credit hour • Honors and Collegiate Scholar seminars and off-campus excursions

OPPORTUNITIES TO EXCEL COLLEGIATE SCHOLARS The Collegiate Scholars community is the overarching umbrella for this constellation of academic opportunities and cocurricular engagement. Upon finishing your coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.65 and completing four “touchpoints,” you’ll graduate “with distinction.”

YOU WILL THRIVE AT CALVIN

From offering first-year research opportunities to advice for seniors applying for Fulbright Fellowships, Calvin challenges and supports its most academically engaged students. As you’re driven by a sense of curiosity, exploration, and wonder, you’ll learn both in and beyond the classroom—through opportunities including cohort programs, intentional living and learning communities, and study-abroad options.

You’ll find resources to help you prepare for whatever comes next, whether that’s starting a career right after graduation or continuing your education in medicine, law, the social sciences, or the humanities.
