A LETTER FROM OUR Founder:
This year has tested JH Israel and the National Leadership Center in profound ways, bringing unforeseen challenges yet equally powerful moments of hope. Amid the trauma of conflict and societal divides, the NLC—a unique outdoor experiential learning environment, endorsed by the Israeli Ministry of Education and the Israel Defense Forces—has been a steadfast source of support, healing, and resilience. It has been a place where Israeli youth reconnect with their biblical roots and heritage, nurturing the values and character needed to shape tomorrow's leaders.
A powerful milestone was the journey of an Israeli delegation to the United States for transformative training at JH Ranch. There, they engaged with trauma recovery principles from The Body Keeps the Score, received heartfelt prayer, and found healing connections across cultures. A highlight of the summer came when Israelis and Americans danced together to Ronnie Freeman’s moving song, “We Will Dance”—a new anthem of solidarity and hope for Israel, written after the October 7th tragedy. The joy in that moment of unity, despite shared pain, became a beacon of the unyielding spirit to overcome.
As we look forward, we hold in our hearts a fervent hope: an end to the conflict, full recovery for every Israeli, and the restoration of relationships—not only within Israel but also between Israel and the United States. While life cannot simply return to the world as it was before October 7th, we believe in the promise of a healed land, where joy can flourish once again. The journey continues, with resilience and hope lighting the path ahead.
The NLC
The National Leadership Center began operating 15 years ago, driven by Heather Johnston’s vision of strengthening and developing leadership in Israel, connecting to roots, and fostering faith. The vision that started back then prepared us to face the challenges of this difficult year and positioned the National Leadership Center in Ariel as a source of strength for the nation in challenging times. We are part of the healing process of a nation going through trauma caused by the terrible war imposed on us.

Groups of orphans and widows, including many affected by the current war, have experienced profound emotional impact through the Parent-Teen program. This program provided a space for healing and connection in ways that are beyond words.
We have hosted groups of Soldiers, both on active and reserve duty, for activities that equipped them with empowerment and resilience. These sessions offered them essential tools to cope with the immense challenges they have been facing daily for over one year.
Before heading to the front or reuniting with their families, the soldiers found strength and solidarity at the National Leadership Center.

PrayForIsrael#
In response to Isaiah 62's call to be Watchmen on the Wall for Israel and the Jewish people, JH Israel oversees two main avenues for global intercessors to participate. The first is a daily #PrayForIsrael Zoom with around 100 participants joining as a “battering ram ” of prayer. During these sessions, guests from Israel and the U.S. provide specific prayer points, including the war in Israel, leadership in Israel and America, protection for the IDF soldiers, and blessings on the National Leadership Center in Ariel. The second initiative is the Israel Virtual House of Prayer, which aims for near 24/7 prayer coverage. Leaders from 20 nations guide these prayers in multiple languages—English, Spanish, French—or through worship. Weekly teaching sessions on Biblical perspectives for Israel have been held every Monday for over three years, creating a global community committed to prayer and education on Israel’s behalf, rising as God’s house of prayer (Isaiah 56:7).

At the core of our mission lies the belief that education and truth can transform lives. Our content focuses on vital topics: prayer, the Jewish roots of faith, the National Leadership Center (NLC), and Israel in prophecy today.
These subjects resonate deeply, especially in this pivotal time, as so many are seeking to understand the importance of Israel and its place in God's plan. We stand uniquely positioned to be a voice of truth. To invite our audience into a deeper relationship with the NLC, we must first help them connect with their Jewish identity and God's heart for Israel. Together, we have an extraordinary opportunity to influence lives and shape hearts for generations to come.

Our plans include evaluating and refining our current digital resources such as our brand image, website, and collateral materials to ensure they align with our mission and resonate with our audience. Simultaneously, we aim to explore innovative opportunities for creating impactful new content, including educational learning journeys, Hebrew Word studies, and interactive content on social media. Through these efforts, we will expand our reach, enhance our credibility, and foster meaningful, lasting connections with those who engage with our mission. This focused strategy ensures that our message continues to inspire and equip individuals in profound and transformative ways.

In 2024, JHI events have profoundly impacted attendees, partners, and communities, strengthening bonds and fostering unity. At the National Leadership Center in Ariel, our programs provide a refuge for youth and community leaders, nurturing hope and resilience amidst the nation’s struggle with PTSD. A highlight of the year was a transformative weekend in Seattle, WA, where an immersive worship gathering at Vossler Studios and Heather’s powerful teaching on the Abrahamic covenant deepened participants' connection to our mission. Throughout this challenging year, I’ve continuously prayed Deuteronomy 31:6 over Israel, the IDF, and our team, fueling encouragement and steadfast hope. In November, we hosted a successful Prayer Retreat featuring Robert Henderson and Lou Engle, uniting our community in a heartfelt prayer for Israel and the nations. These gatherings remind us of the strength found in faith, as we prepare for impactful 2025 tours and continue our commitment to stand with Israel. Your support enables us to bring healing and purpose to a nation in need, and for this, we thank you deeply.

In today's world, I am comforted knowing that there is a group of young adults who have a vision and purpose to make an impact on the next generation of leaders in Israel. The Joshua Generation is a vibrant, pro-Israel movement of young leaders in the Birmingham, AL area, actively combating antisemitism while rallying together for Israel’s future through education and advocacy. It offers 20somethings an incredible opportunity to get involved in this mission-driven community. They want a community of believers who they can have fellowship with, but also get educated on what God's purpose is for Israel. We do this with our Social-Educational gatherings. From dinner meetings, backyard fire pits, attending a Barron Baseball game, to having a fabulous Lake Retreat this Summer, we came together to learn, love, and grow together in support of Israel and the National Leadership Center.

In 2024, the Gideons 300 program has grown beyond expectations, with members from around the world uniting in prayer, love, and support for Israel. What began as a vision is now a movement, with God’s faithfulness evident in every step. At the National Leadership Center (NLC), our partnership with the Ministry of Defense is bringing healing to soldiers, widows, and orphans deeply affected by conflict. This place of refuge offers peace, strength, and restoration, serving as a vital beacon of hope during one of Israel’s most challenging times. The resilience of those choosing to heal inspires us daily, and your unwavering support fuels this mission.
Each prayer, act of generosity, and expression of love is making a tangible difference, reminding these families that they are not forgotten. As Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us, 'Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. ' Together, we are standing in the gap, bringing hope, renewal, and purpose to countless lives. Your commitment to this mission strengthens not only Israel but also our shared faith, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
