MARK YOUR CALENDAR FALL PREVENTION

Saturday, October 13 & October 27, 2012 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Lunch at Yaks included! The Rose Center 3278 Bechelli Lane Redding, CA www.therosecenter.com

Studies indicate that falls are quite common among people with MS and are often associated with injuries and negative impact on quality of life. Join us for a two-day interactive fall prevention class designed for people with MS. Through this course, participants will: • Increase their awareness of the prevalence of falls among people with MS and the risk factors that may contribute to falls. • Identify strategies they can employ to prevent falls and develop a fall prevention action plan. • Engage in and develop a home fitness plan that addresses balance, endurance, and strength, aimed at reducing fall risk. • Increase their confidence in minimizing fall risk and in managing falls if they do occur. • Identify additional community resources to implement a fall prevention action plan. You must be available to attend both days of the workshop. A completed, signed

medical waiver by your doctor is required to participate. Please Note: This course is designed for those who are currently walking independently with a cane or one crutch. If you are using a scooter or a walker, even intermittently, this workshop is not a fit for your fall prevention needs. Please contact your physical therapist for an individualized appointment and plan to maximize your mobility. Pre-registration is required and a completed signed medical waiver is needed prior to the first day of class. To register, please call 800-344-4867 or register online at www. nationalMSsociety.org/can.
