2023: A Year in Pictures

Every day, the Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville helps Jewish life thrive – locally, in Israel, and around the world. A lot of people think all Federation does is raise money and give money away. We definitely do that, and that is amazing! Those efforts are reflected in our annual impact report. This book highlights our direct programmatic impact over the past year. We reach across denominations and to the unaffiliated, across different ages and backgrounds, across the ideological spectrum. We create inclusive and representative programming. We inspire engagement in Jewish life and in assuring a Jewish future. We connect Jewish Nashville. That connection is key to everything we do, and it is only possible through the generous support of our donors and the hard work and tremendous dedication of our staff. The combination of lay leaders and professional staff is a testament to the power of community – our community – working together to make the world a better place. It is touching, remarkable, and incredibly impactful to our community. It is my honor to serve as President of the Federation, and on behalf of the Board I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who works so hard, through donations and through time, to further the mission and vision of the Federation. Best Wishes,

Leslie Kirby President, Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville

This past year was one of great challenges and great successes. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to join this community in August, and to witness firsthand how strong, committed and caring it is. Thanks to your support, we have continued to deliver on our commitment to building a strong and thriving Jewish community here in Nashville, while caring for our Jewish family in Israel and globally. Our world changed forever on October 7, and I am so humbled by how our community stepped up to the challenge of supporting the Israeli people. Beyond our standard Annual Campaign raise, we raised more than $1million additional dollars that were sent directly to support our Israeli family during their time of need. We shepherded dozens of folks to DC for the largest known proIsrael gathering in history. We welcomed Israeli families to Nashville for a respite from the war. And we lobbied elected officials at all levels of government to support Israel during her time of need, while simultaneously ensuring our local Jewish community remained secure in the face of the dramatic rise in antisemitism. I want to thank our generous donors, our dedicated board and volunteers, and our hard working and talented staff for making all of this possible. I feel honored to be part of Jewish Nashville, and look forward to our continued growth and impact, from strength to strength.

Best Wishes,

Rabbi Dan Horwitz CEO, Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville
