Mother and daughters plan

Women's Event

by Pam Monsky, Federation Communfcafions Director Sheryn Joffe and her daughters, Andrea Siegal

and Suzanne Pocras, are taking the theme of I'dor v'dor or "from generation to generation," very seriously as they work together to plan the 2001 Women's Event. This event is the cornerstone for the Federation's Women's Division of the Annual Campaign. The theme will be central to the event, which will feature nationally-known radio personality Susan Stamberg of National Public Radio (NPR). "We would like to encourage all Omaha Jewish women to come to this event with your mother, daughter, granddaughter, or any of your women relatives," said Sheryn Joffe. "If you don't have any female relatives in town, remember that all Jewish women are sisters!" Suzanne and Andrea agreed with their mother and added, "We've never worked on a Federation event before. We are really excited to start off with the Women's Event and especially happy to work with our mom." The Event will differ from last year's luncheon in that we will serve a 'light' luncheon featuring baked goods prepared by community members. Their favorite family baking recipes will be compiled and published into a book that will" be available only to women who attend the event. Cost is also lower, $18, down from last year's $25.

The minimum gift requirement of $136 will remain the same. The event will be held on Oct. 25 at Beth El Synagogue. Baking for the event will take place on two days: Thursday, Aug.17, 9-11 a.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 20,9-11 am. All community members are invited to bake and can sign up by calling Sheryn Joffe at 397-3397.
