College Night provides an opportunity for collegebound seniors in high school and their parents to learn how to balance college life and remain connected to our Jewish heritage. This year, the Third Annual College Night, hosted by Jewish Family Service, is Tuesday, Feb. 1,6:30-8:30 p.m., in the Jewish Community Center auditorium. Co-sponsored by the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, Beth El, Beth Israel, Beyt Shalom, Chabad of Nebraska and Temple Israel, the event also includes dinner. t-"' ' Individualized packets will be made available to high'school juniors and seniors, containing information1 about Hillel (the major Jewish organization on college and university campuses), sororities and fraternities and other Jewish connections within their college community. JFS requests that .the 1999.College Survey, mailed to juniors and seniors, be completed and returned to the JFS office; contacts with college campuses can then be made by JFS staff. The Fourth Annual College Night will take place on the first Wednesday of October, 2000, and College Night will continue to be scheduled on that date in the future. Buffet and Greenberg Archbishop speaks speak to major donors
Panel to speak on Holocaust
out at Temple by Ellen Platt
Christian and Jewish perspectives on the Holocaust will be shared by Archbishop Elden CurtisB, Holocaust Survivor Bea Karp, Temple Israel's Rabbi Debbi Stiel, Creighton Professor Dr. Bryan LeBeau and Holocaust historian Dr. Ben Nachman, at Temple Israel this Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. Though the Archbishop has spoken at Temple Israel previously, this is the first time he will be speaking on the subject of the Holocaust. (Bea Karp, a child hidden during World War II, was rescued by a Jewish group, not a group of nuns, as previously reported; the Jewish Press regrets the error). • Temple Israel's Outreach Committee and the Pearl Giventer, center, listens to a "stock tip" Hermene Zweiback Center for Lifelong Jewish from financier Warren Buffet, as Wall Street Learning will host "Beyond Schindler's List: The legend Alan "Ace" Greenberg laughs. Impact of the Holocaust—Lessons and Healing 50 Years Later," which is open to the entire community. ADL Director Bob Wolfson will serve as moderator. "It is important for our community to be able to participate in a dialogue on some of the issues regarding the Holocaust," said Wolfson. "What a wonderful opportunity to view our past from the unique perspectives of our panelists." "I am looking forward to this program as a time for holiest discussion," said Rabbi Stiel. "This will ha- s u c l ^ a n . ^ t t ^ i u n i t y ^ ^ ^ n ^ p j i ^ a b o u t the Holocaust from so many angles." Please join us for what promises to be an unforgettable and informative discussion. This program will be held in the Social Hall at Temple Israel. For information; call the Temple office, 556-6536.
