Harold M. Maurer, M.D. named UNMC Chancellor
Blum to be installed at Temple Israel Jennifer Blum will officially be installed as Cantor of the congregation on Friday, Nov. 6, 8 p.m. at Temple Israel. This service willformallywelcome Cantor Blum to her Omaha pulpit. She was invested as a cantor on last May, after receiving her Masters of Sacred Music from the Hebrew Union College — Jewish Institute of! Religion, New York City r and Jerusalem. She [ Cantor Blum served as student cantor at Temple Beth El in South Bend, IN, 1995-1997 and at Temple Shearith of Ridgefield, CT,1997-1998. Joining Rabbi Aryeh Azriel, Rabbi Debbie Stiel and Cantor Blum at the service will be Rabbi Morley Feinstein of South Bend, IN. Rabbi Feinstein is the spiritual leader of Temple Beth El in South Bend, and a former teacher of Cantor Blum's. He will speak on the topic, "To Be ACantor." Rabbi Feinstein graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with highest honors, and was named to Phi Beta Kappa. He received both the Hebrew Letters and Hebrew Education Master of Arts degrees from Hebrew Union College — Jewish Institute of Religion. Followinghis ordina-

If you enjoy art or collect seriously, the Art Auction at Beth El Synagogue on Nov. 21 will offer a novel way to spend a Saturday night. The gala event will begin with a reception/preview at 7 p.m., complete with wine-tasting, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. A brief discussion of "Art Selection and Auction Procedures" will take place before the bidding gets underway at 8 p.m. "This is an opportunity to: acquire works by the world'B most renowned artiBts in addition to the upand-coming artists of the Americas, Europe and Asia," said committee chairman Beth Friedman. Among the featured artists are Boulanger, Dali, Lautrec, Max, Miro, Nieman, Rockwell, Rios,Vickers and Vasarely. Also included are artists celebrated for their Jewish themes, such as Agam, Chagall, Ebgi, Ben Avram and Tarkay.
