endowment fund in honor of Yale Richards "For almost 25 years, Yale Richards has diligently served the Livingston Foundation as its legal counsel and executive director," said Robert Kully, president of the private foundation. "In addition, -during his 50 years in the practice of law, he has made significant contributions to the Omaha Jewish community both as an attorney and as a dedicated community leader.",: • To recognize Richards' years of service and to honor him on his 75th birthday, the Livingston Foundation has chosen the occasion of its own 50th Anniversary to announce the establishment of the "Yale Richards Professional Education Endowment Fund.";: The new fund will be a permanent endowment, the income from which will enable the-Jewish Federation Foundation jto hold seminars for professionals, such as attorneys, accountants, financial planners, investment advisers, insurance consultants and others, to inform them of current estate and tax planning strategies for charitable giving. It is intended that these seminars will educate professionals to encourage their clients to make charitable contributions in the context of their estate planning, and to consider the Federation, its agencies and affiliates, and other organizations and institutions within the Jewish community, as potential recipients. According to Murray Newman, one of the Livingston Foundation Trustees, "The establishment of the Yale Richards Fund not only is meaningful to Yale, but will also benefit the Jewish community far into the future. For many years, Yale has been involved in helping his clients to understand the benefits ot planned giving. This Fund is a marvelous way to honor him." Sheldon Bernstein, who recently retired as Endowment Director of the Federation Foundation, said, "The formation of several of our prominent funds is the result of the encouragement of Yale Richards." •

In praising . Richards, Newman said, "He's been a tremendous counsel. He's given sound advice and has | been a superb i liaison with the Jewish Federation. He has handled all administrative affairs of the Livingston Foundation in a meticulous Yale Richards manner." Richards, a senior partner in the law firm of Marks Clare & Richards, has served several terms on the Jewish Federation Board of Directors, as well as the Boards of Jewish Senior Services as Vice-president and currently as Treasurer, of ADLCRC, as Chairman of Jewish Family Service, and on various committees in connection with the constructioji of the Jewish Community Center, the Blumkin Home and the Livingston Plaza Apartments. He has worked on the Federation's annual campaign for over 50 years. Additionally, Richards was a founder and the "second president of-Gornhusker.1 Lodge of B'riai B'rith and Vice-President of Beth El Synagogue. He is also a trustee of the Goldsten Trust, another charitable foundation. The Yale Richards Professional Education Endowment Fund will be an extension of the Livingston Foundation's long-time connection to the Federation Foundation and a commitment to its future. , _ .. . <« (Continued on page 2)
