M a y o r John Rosenblatt, "Omaha's first citizen" w h o won local and national recognition for numerous community and civic improvement programs he spearheaded, has accepted tho p o s t of General Chairman of the 1050 Jewish Philanthropies and United Jewish Appeal Emergency Campaign, Jack W. Marer, president of the Federation for Jewish Service, announced today. 'I am exceedingly happy to report to tho Omaha Jewish community," Mr. Marer said, "that Mayor John Rosenblatt has agreed to accept the top leadership of our 1956 Philanthropies Drive. Mayor Rosenblatt's acceptance of this responsible post Is duo to his recognition of the great and critical emergency which Israel faces now, and his willingness to help in the great humanitarian efforts of the United Jewish Appeal and Its agencies.
UJA Regional Meet Here A one-day emergency Centra! States Regional Conference of the United Jewish Appeal will Ire held at the ISIackstone Hotel April 8, It was announced by Jack W. Marer. regional chairman. The region includes Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. The conference will begin with a morning work session to be devoted to n thorough discussion by community le/ideni of campaign problems in this year's crucial effort. Separate women's and youth divisions sessions have also been fselKHluled In the morning. A luncheon and afternoon session will follow. Outstanding s p e a k e r s , Mr. Marer stated, will report on the threatening situation In Israel and North Africa and the vital role of t'JA in the prqscnt emergency.
