by JILL BELMONT So you think you know your synagogue’s rabbi fairly well, hmmmm? Feeling pretty confident about that? OK, let’s see how you do with this quiz: Who sported a snazzy afro during his younger years? Who took accordion lessons and later played in a band called Glatt Rock? For answers to these questions and other fun facts about Omaha’s pulpit rabbis, plan to attend Hadassah’s annual H.I.E.S. luncheon on Wednesday, May 28, 11:45 a.m., at Beth Israel Synagogue. This year’s get-together, with the theme, “Rappin’ with the Rabbis,” will offer attendees the opportunity to get to know Rabbis Aryeh Azriel and Craig Marantz of Temple Israel, Beth El Synagogue’s Rabbi Mordechai Levin, Rabbi Howard Kutner of Beth Israel Synagogue, and Chabad House’s Rabbi Mendel Katzman, during an informal questionand-answer session, according to event chairwoman, Bette Kozlen.
