Experience fine dining, Friedel style by ANNETTE VAN DE KAMP-WRIGHT Editor of the Jewish Press For the third year in a row, Friedel Jewish Academy is inviting the entire community to be part of something big. The annual Friedel Tribute Dinner will take place at Beth Israel on May 23, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are Dr. Bonnie Bloch and Dr. H o w a r d Gendelman, K o h l l ’ s Pharmacy and Homecare, represented by Marvin and Sandra Kohll, Dr. Bonnie Bloch and David and Janet Dr. Howard Gendelman Kohll, and Justin Kohll, and, Julie and David Stein. “The annual Tribute Dinner is a great opportunity for us to show what we’re made of,” says principal Ron Giller. “Not only do we get to share success stories about the school, we also get to pay tribute to people who help make it all possible, whether through financial support, or by rolling up their sleeves, or both. On top of that, we all get to support the school, while enjoying a great meal and program. What’s not to like?” Current Board President Bruce Potash is excited to have such an outstanding crop of honorees this year: “They all support the school in their own unique way, and they have all done it for many years,” he says.

On Tuesday, April 20 from 5 to 8 p.m., Israel’s Independence Day will be held on the back lawn of the JCC. Filled with music, food, and fun for the entire family, Omaha will have a truly Israeli-style celebration. In the Pavilion, Star Catering is providing a kosher cookout for purchase. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, polish dogs, chicken sandwiches, and even falafel! Not to mention sides, drinks, and desserts, too! Beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing during the show, the event starts with food and lots of fun activities for children of all ages including, face painting, an Israeli archeological dig, getting wet with boat races, and much more!
