Earlier this month, the Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation held its annual commemoration of Rachel Imeinu’s yarzheit. A buffet dinner was held at the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center on October 14. The keynote speaker was Rabbi Jonathan Rietti who gave a dramatic presentation on the relationship between Rachel Imeinu and the nal Geulah. Upcoming events… New York State Senator Simcha Felder, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, and New York City Councilman Kalman Yeger, in partnership with Maimonides Medical Center, will be hosting an event where local residents can receive a free flu shot. The shots will be given at Assemblyman Eichenstein’s district office at 1310 48th Street, 2nd Floor, in Boro Park on Thursday, December 5, from 4-7 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Jewish teenagers from across the Orange County gathered at Chabad of Orange County to create fleece blankets for a local shelter. The event was dedicated to Adi Wolff, of Monroe, a member of the CTeen group who passed two years ago. CTeen is an International Chabad club for Jewish teenagers.

On October 2, Zicharon, an organization that assists people on issues relating to dementia, hosted an informative evening in Menorah Hall featuring renowned dementia experts who provided the audience with much-needed advice and information on dealing with this disease. Among the speakers were Rabbi Eliezer Kaminetzky; Dr. Gary Kennedy, chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Monteore Medical Center; and Matt Kudish, senior vice president of caregiver services of the NY Chapter of the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Two Holocaust survivors visited FDR High School last week, telling 200 students their stories of miraculous survival. Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein arranged the visit largely in response to the recent dramatic increase in hate crime incidents.
