CPAC 2020

On Sunday, February 23, hundreds of volunteers gathered for a siyum in memory of those who have no one to learn in their memory. Over the last four years, Chesed Shel Emes has buried over 400 meisei mitzvah, and for the past 35 years has made a siyum for the more than 2,000 people it has buried. The siyum was made by Rav Yisroel Rosenberg, dayan of Kehilas Viznitz in Williamsburg and brother of Rav Mendel Rosenberg, director of Chesed Shel Emes. The guest speaker was Rav Ezriel Yehuda Roth, menahel of the Talmud Torah in Jersey City.

Yishai Fleisher, Hevron’s international spokesperson, and columnist Caroline Glick were among the many “names” at this year’s CPAC conference in Washington, which bills itself as the “largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world.” Also making appearances at CPAC were President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Brexit leader Nigel Farage, radio host John Batchelor, Senator Ted Cruz, Rep. Matt Gaetz, Blexit leader Candace Owens, and advisors to the president Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. A Shabbaton, headed by Rabbi Daniel Lapin, was held in a hotel across the street for Jews attending CPAC. Approximately 250 Jews benefited from the Honorees pose behind the Jewish Mother’s Day cake donated by Pressers Bakery Avenue M. On October 2, Zicharon, an organization that assists people on issues relating to dementia, hosted an informative evening in Menorah Hall featuring renowned dementia experts who provided the audience with much-needed advice and information on dealing with this disease. Among the speakers were Rabbi Eliezer Kaminetzky; Dr. Gary Kennedy, chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Monteore Medical Center; and Matt Kudish, senior vice president of caregiver services of the NY Chapter of the American Alzheimer’s Association.
