On Sunday, October 13, the Yeshiva of Central Queens kicked off its Parent-Child Sunday Learning Program.

The officers delivered a presentation on personal safety, focusing on the significance of fire drills and lockdown procedures. They also offered advice on safety and security while walking in the street.

Earlier this month, the Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation held its annual commemoration of Rachel Imeinu’s yarzheit. A buffet dinner was held at the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center on October 14. The keynote speaker was Rabbi Jonathan Rietti who gave a dramatic presentation on the relationship between Rachel Imeinu and the nal Geulah.

On Sunday, February 9, Khal Ner L’Meah in Brooklyn will hold a yom iyun in honor of Tu B’Shevat. The day’s sessions include “Sensitive Information in Shidduchim,” presented by Rabbi Baruch Goldstein; “Problem + Problem = Solution,” presented by Rabbi Fischel Schachter; and “A Torah Perspective on Genetic Testing,” presented by Rabbi Elan Segelman, PUAH rabbinic advisor. The event will take place at 2876 Nostrand Avenue (between Kings Highway and Avenue P). Shachris is at 8:00am; the program will begin at 8:45 a.m. Men and women are invited. Refreshments will be served.

Shiurim for some of the 600 New York City-area volunteers of Chevra Kadisha Chesed Shel Emes. Shiurim have been held in Monsey, Boro Park, and Williamsburg with speakers like Rav Yechiel Steinmetz and Reb Meyer Hersh Berger.

On October 2, Zicharon, an organization that assists people on issues relating to dementia, hosted an informative evening in Menorah Hall featuring renowned dementia experts who provided the audience with much-needed advice and information on dealing with this disease. Among the speakers were Rabbi Eliezer Kaminetzky; Dr. Gary Kennedy, chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Monteore Medical Center; and Matt Kudish, senior vice president of caregiver services of the NY Chapter of the American Alzheimer’s Association.
