Welcoming Sun Mor, Jewish Agency Israel Fellow
Beach Hillel
Driven by a lifelong dream of becoming a diplomat for the State of Israel, Sun holds a BA in Political Science from Ben-Gurion University (BGU) and an MBA from COLMAN College. With a rich background in internships and volunteer work, Sun is passionate about representing Israel on the global stage through values of dignity and integrity. His goal is to foster a healthier, more balanced understanding of Israel.
During his internship at the President’s House in the Foreign Affairs Department, Sun worked closely with the Senior Advisor to the President, contributing to building diplomatic relationships with foreign leaders and embassies.
An avid surfer from a young age, Sun also devoted his time to therapeutic surfing, where he instructed children with muscular dystrophy and autism, combining his love for the ocean with his commitment to helping others.
As part of a global program through the Jewish Agency, Sun served as an Israel Fellow at Virginia Tech Hillel and now continues his work at CSULB. His mission is to support Jewish students during these challenging times while maintaining a strong, authentic Israeli presence on campus. He focuses on three key areas:
Engagement: Creating meaningful, personal connections between Jewish students and Israel, helping them explore and strengthen their Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish homeland.
Education: Teaching classes on Hebrew, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the ongoing war, offering students knowledge and context in an era of rising antisemitism.
Experience: Bringing Israeli culture to life through dynamic events and organizing transformative trips to Israel, giving students firsthand experiences of Israeli society.
Sun’s personal connection to Jewish history runs deep. His great-grandfather survived Auschwitz, and the message of "Never Again" shaped his upbringing. He believes that no Jew should ever fear being proud of their Jewish identity.
In these pivotal times, with an increase in antisemitic incidents and the word "Zionism" being misused as a curse, Jewish college students are facing these challenges firsthand. Sun sees it as his responsibility, along with the Hillel team, to support and educate the next generation of Jewish leaders, ensuring they can wear their Star of David necklaces and Hillel shirts with pride.
While our brothers and sisters in Israel defend our homeland, we are here, dedicated to creating a safe and empowering space for Jewish students on campus.
