May Their Memory be a Blessing: Dr. Aaron Shovers

Jackie Sereboff

Dr. Aaron Shovers, aged 96 years old, died peacefully in Santa Barbara, California on August 7, 2024. Aaron was born in Wisconsin in 1928, to Jack and Rose Shovers, where he went to dental school at Marquette University. After graduation, Aaron joined the United States Army and was stationed in Kenai, Alaska as an Army Dentist and Captain. Following his service in the Army, he moved to Long Beach and opened an office in Lakewood, where he practiced dentistry for over 50 years.

Aaron was a loving, dedicated father who always put family first. He had many hobbies, including gardening, making jewelry, listening to music, painting, collecting antiques, Judaica and coins. He loved sharing his knowledge about Jewish history and often gave talks at the Long Beach JCC. One of Aaron's life-long passions was to study and learn about human behavior and philosophy.

He and his wife, Katie loved to dance, and they had a reputation of dancing anywhere there was good music and were always complimented on their skillful dancing.

Aaron will always be remembered as a brilliant and funny man. Gone, but never forgotten, Aaron is preceded in death by his lovely wife Katie and his parents Jack and Rose. He is survived by his daughters Karon Shovers Goldsmith and Jackie Sereboff (along with their husbands Michael and Steven, respectively) and grandchildren Benjamin, Fiona and Marcel and his dear sister, Cherna Moskowitz.
