20. 6. - 25. 6. 2013 MUSIC BRIDGES 1st International Guitar Competition with Workshop Danijel Cerović, Goran Perišić, Goran Krivokapić/ME/ István Römer/HR/, Admir Doci/AL/ Working languages: Croatian, English, German ONLINE REGISTRATION: http://www.hgm.hr/groznjan_prijavnica_distributed.pdf Workshop program: Individual classes, chamber groups (duo, trio, quartet), exercises for technical problems, sight-reading, procedure for writing transcriptions for guitar.

The aim of this course is to enable guitar players to further develop their techniques and interpretations, take part in the shaping of analytic and systematic way of practicing. The course is intended for everyone, from the very beginners to the student getting ready for competitions, entrance exams for MA courses or recitals with orchestra.

Prior to their arrival, applicants should prepare at least two compositions (or movement from a piece of cyclic music) of different, opposite character.

COMPETITION REGULATIONS All active participants can enter the competition.

Candidates have an opportunity to compete in five age categories.

I category - candidates born after 1 January 2000 II category - candidates born after 1 January 1998 III category - candidates born after 1 January 1996 IV category - candidates born after 1 January 1994 V category – no age limit Program I Category: Free program in duration of up to 7 minutes II Category: Free program in duration of up to 10 minutes III Category: Free program in duration of up to 15 minutes IV Category:Free program in duration of up to 20 minutes V Category: I stage - Free program in duration of up to 12 minutes II stage- Free program in duration of up to 25 minutes Finals - Free program in duration of up to 25 minutes comprising of minimum 2 compositions, different in style and character.

Program performed during I stage cannot be repeated in the Finals.

Candidates must perform their program by heart.

The competition is open to the public; JMC reserves all rights to record and transmit the competitive part of the festival.

The Jury will consist of prominent national and international guitar players and pedagogues.

The decisions of the Jury are irrevocable.

Goran Krivokapić, born 1979, is one of the leading guitarists of the new, young international guitar scene.

The reasons for this are not only his technical virtuosity, which sets new standards in the guitar world, but also his characteristical interpretation of old and new repertoire.

Apart from winning eighteen international competitions, he received several awards at the annual "International Guitar Convention in Alessandria”, Italy: 2005 as the best young guitarist of the year and 2006 for his debut CD "Best CD of the Year". Thus, by the age of 25, he had received the highest honors in the International guitar scene. At age 14 he won his first competition, but his breakthrough came in 2004 as winner of the two most prestigious guitar competitions in North and South America ("Guitar Foundation of America in Montreal, Canada, and" Dr. Luis Sigall International Competition of Musical Performance " in Viña del Mar, Chile). Since then he has performed all over the world and plays as a soloist in the most prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Lubkowitz Palace in Vienna, Auditorio Conde Duque in Madrid...

As an artist, lecturer and adjudicator, he is a frequent guest at many international festivals in Europe and America.His musical focus is on the development of new works for classical guitar, mainly through making his own transcriptions from the Baroque and Classical works, but also collaborating with contemporary composers. Since 2010 he is working as a lecturer at the prestigious Koblenz International Guitar Academy, in which professional players get the opportunity to complete a post-graduate course of studies in his class.

Danijel Cerović (born in Nikšić) graduated on the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade in the class profesor Vera Ogrizovic. Year 2005. completed his master studies in guitar at the Conservatory in Maastricht (The Netherlands) in the class of Carlo Marchione. At the Music Academy in Cetinje he got master degree with the theme "Key sonatas for guitar in the period between two world wars." He attended master courses with renowned foreign performers and educators: Tilman Hopstock, Beto Davezac, Vladimir Mikulka, Zoran Dukic, Fabio Zanon. He has won numerous awards in competitions for guitar here and abroad: Cetinje (Republic competition), Novi Sad (Federal Competition), Belgrade (Guitar Art Festival), Plovdiv, Thessaloniki (Balkan youth festival), Bojano, Italy (Hoakin Rodrigo). Year 2005. He was finalists in the International Competition for the music of the twentieth century, held in Eindhoven (Netherlands). He has performed as a soloist and member of chamber ensembles at festivals at home and abroad: the Granada Festival, Novi Sad Summer Festival, A tempo (Podgorica), Budva Theatre City, Days of Music (Herceg Novi), Bach's Music Days (Belgrade), Sozopolj Festival (Bulgaria ), etc. He has performed in major halls such as : Lisinski (Zagreb), The Slovenian Philharmonic (Ljubljana), Kolarac (Belgrade), as well as in Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany and Netherlands.

As a soloist he has performed with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Montenegro RTV, Mossani Strings (The Netherlands), Rubicon Quartet, as well as prominent national and international artists such as Amanda Stojović, Goran Krivokapić, B. Martinovic, Milena Gjuro, Olivera Dukic and others. Daniel Cerović is one of the founders and artistic director of the Niksic Guitar Festival. Since 2003, hired as an expert member of the teaching at the Music akadamiji in Cetinje.

Member of the Board for music at CANU, and was a professor of guitar at the Music Academy of Eastern Sarajevo. He has recorded for radio and TV: RCCG, RTS, RTVNK, Bulgaria broadcasting, etc.

Goran Perišić graduated from high school in Nikšić and High School of Music in Kotor. He continued his music education in 2007 at the Music Academy in Eastern Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Goran has won many prizes at different competitions on a republic level and had a successful appearance on the “Goce Delčev” International Guitar Festival in Bulgaria in 1997. As a soloist or a chamber musician he performed across Montenegro (Budva Grad Teatar, on the project of the Ministry of Culture called “Crna Gora jedna kulturna adresa” etc), Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2007 he has been regularly performing with Mako Simović, a violinist, in a duo on the national and international level. The formation of this duo, unique in the region at the time, followed as an idea from a successful cooperation of the two instrumentalists with the eminent “Rubicon” quartet on the project of the revival of the “forgotten” piece of music by A. Vivaldi, “The Four Seasons” in Montenegro. Goran Perišić currently works as a guitar mentor in Music Schools in Nikšić and Herceg Novi.

Since 2008, he has been working in the Music Center of Montenegro as an Event Manger.He is one of the founders, lecturers and the Organizational Director of the “Guitar School” in Nikšić. He is also an Organizational Director of the international “Nikšić Guitar Festival and Competition”.

István Römer was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1962. He studied the guitar with Marga Bäuml - Klasinc at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria and with Darko Petrinjak at the Zagreb Academy of Music. Brilliant start of his career was marked by winning many international prizes, the most prestigious being: 1st Prize - Mettmann (Germany) 1983; 1st Prize - Segovia Competition (Palma de Mallorca) 1984; 1st Prize - Viña del Mar, Chile 1988; 2nd Prize - Maria Callas Competition (Athens) 1984; 2nd Prize - Maria Canals Competition (Barcelona) 1989... He has performed throughout Europe, South America and Asia in solo recitals, in duos with cellist Valter Dešpalj and clarinettist Milko Pravdić and as a member of the Zagreb Guitar Trio. He also played as a soloist with orchestras, such as the Zagreb Soloists, Zagreb Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Festival Orchestra, Athens State Orchestra, Chile Symphony Orchestra, Macedonian Philharmonics, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra and others. He has recorded one solo LP, two LPs and six CDs with the Zagreb Guitar Trio and CD in duo with Valter Despalj. István Römer is Professor of Guitar at the University in Zagreb - Academy of Music.

Admir Doçi is one of the most innovative guitarists of his generation. His interpretations are acclaimed for their great virtuosity, their big dynamic range, the technical mastery and for their artistic maturity from the international press all over the world. Born in Tirana (Albania) 1982 he studied at the Zurich University of the Arts with Prof. Anders Miolin and won over ten awards at international competitions in Switzerland, Thailand and Liechtenstein (among others the first prize at the international guitar competition of Liechtenstein). His musical profile has been enhanced by important impulses from Masters Alvaro Pierri, Carlo Domeniconi and David Russell. His busy concert schedule includes appearances at renowned festivals such as Boswiler Sommer, Liechtenstein Guitar Days, Ohrid Summer Festival, as well as tours with mezzo soprano Leila Pfister, flutist Matthias Weilenmann, cellist Mattia Zappa and the Galatea Quartet. As a soloist he has performed with well-known conductors such as Kai Bumann, Markus Bosch or Carlos Dominguez-Nieto with different orchestras such as Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, Ensemble of contemporary music Zürich, Albanian Radio-Symphony Orchestra, Neues Glarner Musikkollegium, Zuger Sinfonietta and Swiss Youth Symphonic Orchestra. He already made his debut at prestigious concert halls such as Tonhalle Zurich, Kulturcasino Berne and Victoria Hall Geneve. Contemporary music plays a special role in his career, premiering many works dedicated to him from composers like Martin Derungs, Fabian Müller or Martin Schmid. His CD recordings with labels Euroclassics and Guild are played worldwide by renowned radios such as BBC Radio or Fine Arts Radio Missouri. Since 2008 he is a professor of guitar at the University of the Arts, Tirana and at the Faculty of Arts at the State University of Tetova / Macedonia. He plays prestigious guitars by Karl-Heinz Römmich and a 13-string guitar by Ermanno Chiavi

More then 24 000 participants from more than 95 countries around the world who visited and participated in programme of Jeunesses Musicales International Cultural Centre in Grožnjan in past 44 years are the best witnesses to the importance and significance of Grožnjan project.

All this numbers and effort are best described in one single sentence:

“You know, I don't want my child to grow up without getting to know Grožnjan” This sentence said a parent while inquiring in the office of the Jeunesses Musicales Croatia in Zagreb in 1995 about a summer course for his daughter.

Quotation which Marijana Pintar used as a part of foreword in her book: “The International Cultural Centre of the Jeunesses Musicales Croatia in Grožnjan 1969 – 2009”, best illustrates the reputation that Centre has earned over the past forty years not only among professional musicians but also among the general public.

GROŽNJAN, an ancient town in northwestern Istria, 15km from the sea, takes great pride in its wealth of tradition, cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Thanks to many painters, musicians and JMC Grožnjan has a internationally recognized Status “City of Artists”.

Since 1969, when it was established by JMI as a first international music camp in the world, the main purpose of «Grožnjan Project» was creation of a permanent international arts Centre open to young people from all over the world, giving them opportunity and artistic environment for development, education, exchanging ideas & methods working closely with their mentors.

More then 22 000 participants from more then 90 countries around the world who visited Jeunesses Musicales International Cultural Centre in Grožnjan in the more then 40 years are the best witnesses to it. Incredible valuable historical heritage of Grožnjan, together with all the cultural activities developed during the years was recognized by UNESCO and included in project Decade of Cultural Development in 1989.

Project of International Cultural Centre of Jeunesses Musicales Croatia in Grožnjan (ICC JMC Grožnjan JMI World Meeting Center) is only 15 years younger than the association Jeunesses Musicales Croatia, which for the past 59 years, represent the most important Network for Youth & Music in Croatia, and it's a part of a world association Jeunesses Musicales International based in Brussels.

With broad spectrum of its programme, ICC JMC Grožnjan offers various music and other artistic workshops and seminars with many well-known lecturers & professors. Cultural Centre in Grožnjan is as important for the music pedagogy while it offers the possibility of high-quality teaching, improvement, exchange of the experiences and above all growing up in the atmosphere of art and cosmopolitanism. A part from musicians, ICC JMC in Grožnjan opened the door to many other activities, such as Theatre & Drama Master Classes, seminars in Architecture, Civil Society training courses, Dance Workshops and many others.

The purpose of ICC JMC in Grožnjan is not only renovation & restoring houses and city which was on the end of 60's in ruins and neglected, but also to return urban function trough out the intensive cultural activities.

According to the Resolution of the 60th Annual General Assembly of JMI (Indonesia 2005), ICC JMC in Grožnjan was pronounced as a World Meeting Center of Jeunesses Musicales International, together with Musikakademie Schloss Weikersheim . JMI proudly recognizes two international arts centres as World Meeting Centres of JMI. Our cultural centres, are open to young people from all over the world. They provide a special musical environment for development, education, and exchange of ideas; and offer various musical and artistic workshops and seminars with well-known lecturers & professors.

Centres also act as a home away from home for the JMI network, the inspiring landscapes of Grožnjan (a medieval town on Istrian peninsula in Croatia 10 km from the seaside) and Weikersheim (a 16th century castle overlooking the Tauber Valley and surrounded by baroque gardens) acting as dynamic working environments for JMI network meetings. The Grožnjan Centre is a dedicated space for young musicians’ development and education while the Weikersheim center acts as center of excellence for youth orchestras and ensembles.

In October 2008 ICC JMC in Grožnjan proudly accepted membership of ACCR /The European Network of Cultural Centres – Historic Monuments/, the Network gathers forty members from all over Europe, Brazil & Canada. Main goal of the network is promotion of the concept of re-use of historic monuments trough cultural projects.

This year's programme of ICC JMC in Grožnjan offers more then 50 workshops/seminars/ symposiums in various fields /Music, Dance, Architecture, Drama, Fine Art, Cinema, Social Studies…/ Concerts Season in its broad spectrum offers more then 50 Concerts and 2 Festivals (Ethno Croatia & Jazz is Back 2010). During activities, ICC JMC in Grožnjan organizes concerts every evening in concert hall or on the open air stage at 21.00.(free entrance). Grožnjan Music Summer is Performance Programme combined of final concerts (performance or presentation) of every masterclass or workshop, Concerts of guest Ensembles & young Musicians and various concert in the frame of international exchanges.
