Accelerating the disrupted momentum towards the democratisation of sustainable packaging within the fashion retail industry.
Writing this thesis enabled me to draw on, and deeper dive into issues raised within my trends forecasting manifesto in the first year of university. Exploring in detail how brands are greenwashing their mailing packaging, to appear sustainable - when in reality it's the hidden polybag that is the major issue. The one that is used for transportation between manufacture and distribution. The one that is not consumer-facing, so therefore does not get tackled. Our oceans are dying, and through fantastic industry insights and interviews, I was able to justify my research further. Additionally, I conducted a focus group whereby participants were able to discuss both their conflicting and similar ethics upon plastic packaging. Skills learnt: formatting a dissertation thesis, in-depth research tools using both quantitive and qualitative data, how to communicate directly with industry.
