Jessica Maria Robles.

I am a dedicated, motivated, and responsible architecture student with a strong passion for exploring new ideas and continuously expanding my knowledge. My commitment to the field is reflected in my academic journey, and I am currently in my seventh semester of studies.

I’m passionate about sustainable architecture and urban planning because I believe we have the power to shape the future of urban development. This vision extends beyond simply integrating green technologies or using sustainable materials; it encompasses a more holistic approach to architectural design and urban environments, considering broader and deeper dimensions of sustainability

VALLE DE BRAVO PROJECT

PASSIVE STRATEGIES

Site Analysis

The land is located slightly outside Valle de Bravo and is closer to San Francisco Mihualtepec. Just two blocks away, you can find shops within walking distance. If you wish to reach Valle de Bravo, you are only 10 kilometers away. Additionally, you will enjoy incredible views of the mountains and nature right in front of the land.

In this project, passive strategies were employed to develop a sustainability proposal, which included climatic analysis. The selection of sustainable materials was based on these analyses. It is worth noting that the site is located in Valle de Bravo.

SANTA LUCIA PROJECT

URBAN PROJECT

Site Analysis

Santa Lucía, with its rich history and cultural heritage, offers an opportunity to revitalize the area in a way that honors its legacy and attracts both residents and visitors. However, it faces deficiencies in urban infrastructure, such as deteriorated streets, outdated sewage systems, and a lack of public services, which negatively impact the quality of life and the area’s image. The revitalization is proposed through five strategies: preserving memory and identity, inhabiting the street as a public space, connecting the neighborhood internally and externally, creating a new future, and sharing common space.

PAVILION SHELL

CONSTRUCTION PAVILION

DESCRIPTION

A pavilion was constructed to explore parametric design, utilizing Grasshopper for the design process and a CNC laser cutting machine for precision cutting of wooden plates. The project aimed to experiment with innovative construction techniques, resulting in a space that is both functional and visually striking. Additionally, advancements in wood and concrete composites were incorporated to enhance both structural integrity and acoustic performance, while minimizing concrete usage, thus promoting sustainability by reducing dependence on carbon-intensive materials. Onda is a research initiative focused on developing a construction system for a composite shell structure made of wood and concrete, offering increased load-bearing capacity, stiffness, and improved acoustic properties.

MY PARTICIPATION

In this project, I participated in the construction of the pavilion, contributing to the creation of steel structures, the manufacturing of beams, and the cutting of the structure with CNC, among other tasks.

1000 BLOCKS

CONSTRUCTION OF A VIEWPOINT.

DESCRIPTION

In this project, a viewpoint was constructed with the primary goal of allowing visitors to fully appreciate the breathtaking views of the Huasteca region. The design process explored innovative construction techniques, utilizing concrete blocks in a creative and efficient manner. This approach not only enhanced the structural integrity of the space but also contributed to its aesthetic appeal, resulting in a harmonious blend of functionality and visual beauty.

MY PARTICIPATION

My involvement in the project encompassed various tasks from the start, including loading blocks, mixing materials, preparing nozzles, cutting rebar, and clearing the site, among other responsibilities

WORKSHOP: EARTH CONSTRUCTION

DESCRIPTION

In this workshop, I was able to explore and enhance my analytical and practical skills for selecting, handling, and using earth as an ecological material for construction techniques. This workshop lasted a weekend, spanning 32 hours. In this theoretical-practical workshop, I explored the use of earth. I believe this workshop helped me develop technical skills for utilizing and working with natural materials that connect us to the land. I learned to recognize and interpret the different characteristics of earth as a building material.
