Get to know about Italian citizenship female line Due to Italy’s archaic customs and laws, citizenship was only transferred with the help of the father by leaving numerous individuals behind. They were unable to seek the Italian citizenship female line until 1948. The JURE SANGUINIS’s principle is applied to Italian descendants who are not born in Italy but seek recognition. Effects of this rule The female line is also known as the 1948 female line rule that pertains to the policies granting the Italian citizenship female line for those people who have female ancestors. Women can hold citizenship but could not be able to pass this citizenship to their children.

This thing was amended with the modern constitution of Italy. This modern constitution granted the equality of rights by providing the same rights to both men and women regarding pass on the Italian citizenship female line. But the prior policies for those people who are born before this time will remain the same. After the 1948 female line rule, the children born to an Italian mother qualify under this principle of JURE SANGUINIS because the bloodline will not be considered as interrupted, whereas, the children born to an Italian mother before 1948 will not qualify under this principle of Jure Sanguinis.
