PBS39 MATTERS PROGRAM GUIDE

MARCH 2017

Join Rock and Roll Hall of Fame vocal group LITTLE ANTHONY and THE IMPERIALS, The Impressions and The Crests featuring Tommy Mara, April 2nd at 2:00pm for an afternoon of timeless classics from the 50’s and 60’s. Tickets at wlvt.org/boxoffice. Little Anthony has still got it! His powerful and amazing vocal range coupled with some of the most ageless songs ever written transport the audience to a place where timeless music lives on forever. Backed up by the original Imperials, this is a show that does not quit. The quintessential Chicago soul group, The Impressions’ place in R&B history would be secure if they’d done nothing but launch the careers of soul legends Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield. But far more than that, The Impressions recorded some of the most distinctive vocal-group R&B of the ‘60s under Mayfield’s guidance. Major hits include For Your Precious Love, He Will Break Your Heart, Gypsy Woman, and It’s All Right. The Crests featuring Tommy Mara are an American doo wop group, formed in Chicago in 1957 where they achieved their first minor pop hit with Sweetest One before releasing one of doo-wop’s enduring classics, the heartfelt ballad 16 Candles, in 1959.
