TREADING THE BOARDS IN 2017 The Opera House has had a great year so far in 2017 and is looking to continue to offer our customers an eclectic programme that offers something for everyone.

Join us for Agatha Christie’s ‘A Murder is Announced’ with Louise Jameson in the starring role as Miss Marple.

The BBC Big Band featuring the award winning vocalist Claire Martin OBE who will be providing some great music and songs made famous by the most iconic divas of the era such as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Billie Holiday. ‘Macca the Concert’ will celebrate Paul McCartney’s entire solo career from 1970 – 2016 alongside a selection of Beatles favourites.

PP Arnold of ‘The First Cut is the Deepest’ and ‘Angel of the Morning’ fame will be gracing our stage with her wonderful soulful voice. Talon are back in Jersey for their 20th anniversary tour featuring all those classic Eagles numbers and we get a chance to relive the Summer of Love with ‘Janis Joplin and Friends’ in the Woodstock Experience. Showcasing songs from his new album Mr Russell Watson will be returning to the Opera House in December and to round off our forthcoming music programme we have the Locrian Ensemble celebrating the master of Baroque music Antonio Lucio Vivaldi.

Our programme of screenings in the autumn range from a celebration of ‘George Smiley’ from his creator John Le Carré, Carmen on the floating stage of Lake Constance in Bregenz and King Lear live from Shakespeare’s Globe.

From the Met Opera we have Bellini’s masterpiece Norma and that wonderful fantasy by Mozart Die Zauberflöte.

NT Live offerings this season include Yerma with Billie Piper in her award winning role and Follies the legendary musical by Stephen Sondheim.

For that autumn cheer we have comedy from Rich Hall, Andy Parsons and Milton Jones to bring a smile to our faces. We welcome The Cholmondeleys Dance Company to Jersey with their production of Ladies and Gentlemen choreographed

by Lea Anderson and Motionhouse Dance Company with their latest creation Charge which is the third element of choreographer Kevin Finnan’s ‘Earth Trilogy’ following Scattered and Broken.

IN THE STUDIO Jersey born performer Lauren Burch hosts her new production ‘The Conversation’ and fresh from a residency with Arthouse Jersey Bric à Brac Theatre will be bringing their new immersive performance ‘Just Lose It’ to the Studio. Join Curtain Up Theatre Group for their festive production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ full of fun, drama and audience participation!

Middle Ground Theatre Company Ltd is delighted to present their acclaimed production of a classic Miss Marple mystery.

The residents of Chipping Cleghorn are astonished to read an advert in the local newspaper that a murder will take place this coming Friday at Little Paddocks, the home of Letitia Blacklock.

“A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October the thirteenth, at little Paddocks – at six-thirty p.m.”

Unable to resist, the group gather at the house at the appointed time, when the lights go out and a gun is fired.

Enter Miss Marple, who must unravel a complex series of relationships and events to solve the mystery of the killer...

LOCAL talent will grace the stage on Saturday 9 September to raise funds for a project that will improve the lives of some of Jersey’s most physcially disabled people.

The Big Build Concert is supporting a £2 million refurbishment and extension project that will increase the number of available rooms and improve facilities at Jersey Cheshire Home.

Join local authors Gwyn-Garfield-Bennett, Kelly Clayton and Deborah Carr as they discuss their craft, their inspirations and how the three came to meet. REFLECTIONS OF D-DAY Jersey born poet Juliette Hart has visited the Normandy landing beaches, cemeteries and museums several times with veterans who have inspired her collection of poetry – Reflections of D-Day. Here historical events come to life through the personal experiences of the veterans as she reads poems from the collection with a backdrop of photographs taken in Normandy.

FROM MERSEY TO JERSEY 50 years ago a collection of poetry called The Mersey Sound was published, with work from Roger McGough, Brian Patten and Adrian Henri. As well as selected readings from this collection, this event will also feature original material from Island poets including Linda Rose Parkes, Geraint Jennings and Nicky Mesch and also a discussion on the influence of lyrics from 1967.

Programme: Mozart – Horn Concerto No. 4 Beethoven – Pastoral Symphony An exciting programme of popular classics from Vienna. With Mozart’s famous Horn Concerto performed by soloist Martin Owen, and Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony this will be a concert not to be missed.

Martin Owen has performed as a soloist at the Proms, with the Berlin Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. It is conducted by rising star Justin Doyle, who has won many ovations from London to Berlin.

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Jersey Opera House does not offer refunds unless in exceptional circumstances.

• For a fee of £1 per ticket, tickets may be exchanged for another performance of the same show, subject to availability and with at least 24 hours’ notice prior to the show.

• Concessions are for children under 12, students, senior citizens and HIE recipients, unless otherwise stated.

• Reservations are held for up to one week prior to the performance before being automatically released for sale.

• We reserve the right to change the cast without prior notification.

• We reserve the right to refuse admission.

• Late-comers may not be allowed access to the auditorium until a suitable point in the performance.

You’ll find us in Gloucester Street in St Helier, opposite the General Hospital. We’re a five-minute walk from the main town shopping area and the bus terminus, Liberation Station.

Patriotic Street and Sand Street car parks are both 150 metres from the theatre.

Parking is free from 5pm to 8am.

Buses coming from the west will bypass Gloucester Street. The closest stop to the theatre is on the Esplanade and about a 200-metre walk. Other routes will stop at Liberation Station which is a five-minute walk or taxis are available at terminus.
