Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme update
Over the first half of 2015 all practices that applied have successfully competed re-accreditation and achieved a further four years DIAS accreditation.
2015 – 2016 sees a significant number of practices coming due for re-accreditation and this newsletter provides a few tips to support you achieve re-accreditation in good time. We are, as always, available to answer your accreditation questions and welcome your call.
Practices continue to identify benefit from accreditation. A recent survey of non-radiology DIAS accredited practice found: • 72% of respondents feel the DIAS has improved the way they operate. • 86% are very satisfied/ satisfied with the accreditation service provided by HDAA (this is the highest rate for all accreditors)

Check your contact details are current in onTrack and stay up to date with the DIAS scheme Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Standards Review The Department of Health and associated DIAS committees have reviewed the Standards and a revised edition will be introduced in early 2016. From 2016 there will be some changes to the evidence requirements. The Department is publishing resources via their website shortly and this will provide information for practices who are due for accreditation from 2016 onwards. Resources will include an updated version of the “User Guide” and templates. There will continue to be 15 Standards in total and a number will align more closely to the National Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards (NSQHSS). The duration of accreditation (4 years for full suite accreditation), the method of assessment (desk top/off site), the modalities in scope of the DIAS and the diversity of practices required to be accredited is to remain unchanged. Practices undergoing accreditation or reaccreditation during 2015 will be assessed against the existing standards. We will provide you with updates in onTrack, by email and via our website as details of the revised DIAS become available and when resources are released.
