Welcome to this unique loft renovation, situated within an old printing complex in the heart of the 11th district of Paris. This apartment is arranged around a lushly vegetated paved patio, surrounded by charming three story houses.

The design strategically places the living room and kitchen as reception areas upstairs to interact with the private terrace and natural sunlight, while the Donald Judd-inspired wooden bedroom and a full black bathroom with a customized green onyx sink and industrial faucets remain on the ground floor, enveloped in the calm and shade of the plants. The project’s intention is to make the 50-square-meter area feel like 70 by using our natural attraction to light to expand the space. The design language highlights curved lines and the thoughtful use of unconventional materials to create a cozy environment, enhanced by a refined color palette and a select choice of designer furniture that will make you feel at home.

Handling the details phase of a brand new 7,600 m² building can be a complex task. That was precisely my job for over a year, during which we worked closely with the construction enterprise to develop our ambitious project.

Initially, this 100*18m ocean-liner-like building will house a higher education institution accomodating variously sized classrooms, an amphitheater, communal spaces, and administrative offices. The architectural design emphasizes maximum flexibility to adapt to potential future transformations or program changes, while maintaining the original architectural identity. The building features a hybrid wood and concrete structure, with concrete cores and wooden columns, beams, and floors. The design also includes extensive outdoor spaces, such as a large ground-level garden and two terraces per floor. The edifice incorporates sustainable features to ensure comfort without air conditioning, including solar shading devices in front of the windows and high thermal mass with performance low-carbon insulation.

Ongoing studies

MOE : Geiger&Hijlkema

Client : Esprit de France

Phases : ESQ / APS

It’s all about comfort and practical design in this renovation, which is meant to become a four-star branded flagship hotel in the very center of Paris. Starting with the enhancement of the historic facade, which reveals hidden details to restore its original classical spirit.

Inside its doors, the design revitalizes key areas, emphasizing a welcoming and sophisticated entry experience. While walking on a travertine textured floor, guests will see a curved wood paneling that emulates a choir, extending to the back of the long space and providing sitting niches. The warm-colored furnishings bring life to the lobby, creating a home-like coziness. The check-in will be organized over a wooden surface, which can be used as a buffet in the mornings. At the back, a flexible meeting room with a retro curved aluminum design can host private cocktails, when the removable table is retracted into a soft-edged oculus in the ceiling.

Sounds of a river cave

The basement will be transformed into a spa and well-being center with a massage room. This terracotta cauldron-like space features a central column that creates an illuminated pathway leading into a hot jacuzzi. The doorsteps are covered with black river pebbles, adding a wet, natural crunching sound, making the atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

Competition won

MOE : Atelier Pascal Gontier

MOE : Leon Grosse

Phases : CONC

This was the very first project I had the chance to participate in directly after school. It was a conception/réalisation competition that we successfully won as a team, drawing the plans and following the evolution of the project were under my responsibility from the begginig. The plan is conceived as a concentric ring system, similar to an onion. A skylight illuminates the open riser stairs at the core of the building. Surrounding this, a transparent glass brick wall provides light to the hallways that serve 57 apartments. Next comes the band of wet rooms, followed by the main living rooms and dorms. Finally, the exterior ring consists of private terraces. The project comprises three separate blocks with a common socle of parking and technical rooms. It features over half of the roofing dedicated to ecological zones for birds, butterflies, and pollinators. The structure uses wood construction (walls, floors, beams, columns, and lift shaft) for living areas, and concrete for the basement.

New regional courthouse

Competition

MOE : Atelier Pascal Gontier

MOA : Agence Publique pour l’Immobilier de la Justice

Phases : CONC

Have a look at this institutional project, the most difficult and complex com petition in which I had the opportunity to contribute. The new judicial city will stand on an old Alstom warehouse wit hin a former industrial neighborhood.

The functional organization divides the complex into three main segments with distinct purposes : a civil affairs wing, a more secured penal affairs wing with closed-circuit circulation for de tainees, and finally the imposing tertia ry-oriented edifice characterized by its grid regularity, echoing a serious justice institution. The architectural expression of the audience rooms uses a pyramidal dome shape to gather neutral skylight, contributing to a calm atmosphere.

These iconic elements are visible high up from the outside, giving the building an uncomun music instrument-like form enhanced by brown tones derived from the natural materials it employs such as stone wood and rammed earth. A new public square is proposed in front of the general entrance, balancing openness with the necessary confidentiality and safety for judicial activities.

Woodcrafts Campus & Public Park

Final school project

& design

This project involves political commitment, history, ecology, archaeology, architecture, and urban planning. The goal was to build a woodworking school in an area affected by forest degradation due to the establishment of avocado monocultures. The resulting campus would not only be dedicated to education but also to generating added value around wood, in order to propose economic alternatives. In addition to the first-rate classrooms and academic spaces, also proposes the idea of an open campus that could offer green leisure spaces to the town inhabitants, functioning as a public park with sports infrastructure. The hypothesis was to finance this social project with the money generated by the agricultural industry, thus making it give something back to the nature on which it relies so heavily. The research supporting the project highlights deficiencies in land management in Mexico, an issue that becomes urgent to address now if we want to preserve ecosystems.
