Having spent my formative years in Jakarta, Indonesia, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the evolving dynamics between urban landscapes and societal needs. These experiences sparked my fascination with architecture, particularly in the realms of residential and community-centric design. Transitioning into my architectural studies in Sydney, Australia, further broadened my perspective, thanks to the city’s rich multicultural tapestry. Now, my focus lies in designing for the dignity and well-being of individuals, integrating their needs seamlessly into the built environment.

Habitat for Your Laundry

This project is from UNSW M.Arch final studio. The project investigates mundane activities of daily life are often disregarded and overlooked as part of daily necessities. Many apartments in Sydney are built to accommodate said activities towards individual privacy and comfort, residents’ security by limiting access, and the compression of multi-functional amenities into a tiny single unit. This project aims to address that issue by providing additional amenities as well as providing opportunities for chance interactions with other people as a way to help resolve the loneliness issue in Glebe. By combining technology and traditional methods, the architecture is designed to accommodate various spaces celebrating the mundane activity of washing, bathing, and storing to revitalise social interactions in the area.

1. Hypocaust The Bathhouse utilises traditional and conventional heating systems such as hypocaust subfloor ventilation with the addition of conventional boiler. 2. Steam Room The steam generated from the hypocaust is transfered into a separate room to provide opportunity of laundry steaming without additional services.
3. Dhobi Ghat The traditional dhobi ghat system utilise greywater from the bathhouse into the water channel. After a certain period, the used laundry grey water will be transfered into
4.Laundry Pulley A series of pulley system reinforced by hangers rod connected into the trusses provide opportunity for easy access for hanging laundry.

Spiritual Habitation

This project is from UNSW M.Arch 1st studio. The brief was to design a space for Indigigrow, an Dharawal Indigenous group dedicated to the preservation and restoration of plants within Botany Bay. Due to the growing urban expansion in Sydney, many indigenous plants have been driven to extinction, and therefore this project is designed to address that issue. The architecture uses series of white curtains enveloped the structure to create a transitional space between outside and inside Country and blurred the people inside, which represents the metaphorical clouds where spirits existed according to Dharawal traditions. The architecture became a place where metaphorical spirit is housed, in order to regenerate the flora and fauna of the site. By entering the architecture, the outsiders had unknowigly participate as a continuance of spiritual existance in the architecture. The columns guide visitors into a procession towards the upper region, where the old colonial structure remained, as a sacred place for remembrance that connects towards the sky, where the spirits came from.

Year 1

During the first year of its completion, the building lack its relationship with nature. The spaces are designed primarily for human interactions between staff and visitor

Year 10

After 10 years of development, the architecture had reshape its purpose from a people focused design, into a balance between nature and human conditions

Year 100

After a decade of operations, the architecture had fully transormed itself with the assistance of humans, in order to provide space for nature

University of Confluence and Influence

This project is a part of the UTS B.Arch 2020 studio 6 where we were tasked to investigate the future of higher education in a post-labour society. The task requires us to design the space based on acropolis characteristic style within Barangaroo. We chose to design a university where it can influence and encourage the participations of students and public into the world of politics. The space is designed to accomodate variety of practice methods where information are exchanged and spreads using programs such as exhibitions, rally square, theaters, private workspaces, and group workspaces.

Former Grace Bros Heritage

Moderinn Architects was engaged as the project manager and architect to retrofit and refurbish the existing heritage building on behalf of the Strata Owner’s coorporation. The building is an existing 600 units student accomodation in Broadway Ultimo, Sydney. I was involved with the submission of the DA (Development Application) with the City of Sydney (LGA) and the works for the CC (Construction Certificate) stage that includes documenting and consultant coordination for the refurbishment of the existing clock tower, and the installation of commerical kitchen exhaust.

Thornleigh Residential Apartment

Jeremy Gunawarman (under Moderinn Architects)

This was an ongoing project with Moderinn Architects as the design architect for the development and of a 10-storey residential apartment in Thornleigh, Sydney NSW. Designated as a class 2 building, the building falls under the DBP Act thus classified as a regulated building. My involvment began with the documentation of As Built drawings and subsequent amendments of the CC (Construction Certificate) while the building was ongoing construction.

Roselands Townhouses

Jeremy Gunawarman (under Moderinn Architects)

This project is located on Roselands, Sydney NSW, under the jurisdiction of Canterbury-Bankstown Council LGA. This project was originally managed by a different architect for the DA (Development Application) stage, but the client engaged Moderinn Architects for the CC (Construction Certificate) stage of the project. Since the building is a townhouse with a common basement, it is classified as a class 2 building under the NCC (National Construction Code), as well as a regulated building under the DBP Act. My involvement includes the architectural documentation and coordination of the various consultants for the CC stage.
