The lot next to the existing building was also incorporated into the design, an opportunity to design an exterior facade. The Bridge functions as a Think Tank space for entrepreneurs and corporations of all sizes to hash out ideas. Amenities such as the Spa, Laundry Room, Restaurant, and Coffee Bar are provided for an exceptional experience.

INSPIRATION:

The beauty of Santorini, Greece inspired Riverbend Wellness’ facilities. Its’ cascading hilltop, warm and bright color tones, secret nooks, and relaxing glow were all elements that are encompassed the design. The curvature of the building’s site was also taken into account in the main layout of the plan and other parts of the design, hence the name coming from a “river’s bend.”

According to Grand Rapids Community College, the seven dimensions of wellness include: Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual, Environmental, and Occupational. Riverbend Wellness seeks to implement these systems into our programs. Our clientele is primarily employers looking to provide their employees with wellness benefits as a part of their company standard. As real estate continues to become sparce in Los Angeles, our facilities provides the means necessary for small and large scale companies to have the resources to invest in their employees. We seek to address both the mental and physical stability of each person so that they can be at their absolute best in the workplace. We provide exercise facilities, classes, and private meeting rooms that allow the space for psychological needs to be met. With more speaking out about mental health issues in the media, Riverbend Wellness is at the forefront of making sure that history does not get repeated.

We choose to address themes such as sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, and much more.

Our goal is to make wellness a priority for employees. In doing so, we also provide a shuttle service program where employees can be picked up from their business locations, making the commute to our facilities as effortless as possible. We understand the stress of parking!

Another program we provide is the Wristband Tracking System. Upon entering Riverbend Wellness, wellness-goers can either bring their own or rent a wristband that tracks your steps, heart rate, calories intake and burn-off, and much more. Unique to our system, the tracker also acknowledges when you enter into different rooms within our facility, and gives the tracker points for doing so. Employers have the option of downloading our app that keeps track of employee wellness.

• The vision for the project was to create a relationship between the indoors and outdoors. This concept was able to be achieved by allowing the flooring material to extend to the outside Pool Area. Simultaneously, the ‘x’ detail on the kitchen cabinetry reflected the exterior railing.

• Another challenge was to match the Existing Main House to the New Pool House. Here, I incorporated the same interior moulding that was utilized throughout the home. The entry to the Living Room created opportunity for a beautifully detailed arch.

• In the Upper Level Bath, I integrated the colonial American design of the exterior with some asian influenced elements. A Hinoki Ofuro Bath was added to the shower. A glass shower door enclosed this area to create an optional steam room for relaxation. The vanity cabinet was left open underneath to communicate a clean, contemporary environment.

Our client was a couple building a custom home in Crystal Cove. The Vehicle Gate to their home was an important element, as it would be the first thing their guests would see when approaching the residence. The husband was of italian decent, and the wife of native american decent. Elements from the italian renaissance, such as the gothic quatrefoil symbol at the base of the gate, were included in the design.

Native arrows were an influence on the design, as well as the organic forms of leaves. Utilizing a handrawn medium, the sketch of the gate holds a softer personality, and portray a sentimental reflection of both cultures. * Fo r Prese ntati o n Pur poses O nl y *
