Brand New Smile TM

OF LIFE

IN JUST ONE DAY!

WHO THEY ARE

HOW THEY DO IT

Local and independently owned, Brand New Smile is led by Dr. Tim Stirneman. His team of specialists have decades of experience helping hundreds of patients with everything from single dental implants to full mouth restorations. They will take as much time as you need to understand the entire process. They won’t start anything until you understand everything. Every patient’s story is as unique as their case. Our #1 goal is to always exceed your expectations.

WHY THEY DO IT Dr. Tim and his team meet with so many people who haven’t smiled for ten to 30+ years due to a problem or insecurity that has been bothering them. Life is too short to not benefit from the health, functionality and everyday self-confidence that comes with having a great smile. Our dental implants forever change the lives of our patients by giving them a Brand New Smile to share with the world. If you are needing all of your upper or lower teeth replaced, or if you are frustrated with your dentures, implants are a the best option. Not just for comfort and functionality, but for your health. The procedure cleans out any decay and disease. It also prevents the bone in your jaw from shrinking by acting as a prosthetic root preserving your bone.

At Brand New Smile, it really is possible to have new teeth in one day. A FREE consultation will determine if this treatment is right for you. The key to the Brand New Smile solution is the strategic placement of the dental implants. Using highlyadvanced imaging, we find the places in your jaw that provide the most support for the four implants that your new teeth attach to. Our specialists are able to perform the entire procedure while you are sound asleep. Think of it as taking a great nap and waking up with your own Brand New Smile!

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? Immediate satisfaction and long-term results. Order menu items you’ve been avoiding for years. Smile in pictures again with family and friends. Professional confidence with co-workers and clients. The closest thing to real teeth in both function and appearance. You can regain 97% of your original chewing ability vs.10-15% achieved with dentures. Feel more attractive to your partner or get you ready to get back out into the dating/social scene. Preserves the bone in your jaw keeping you looking and feeling younger.

Publ!sher’s Notes

S

eptember means the beginning of fall. It is my favorite season of the year. It is the time between the hot, humid days of summer and the long, cold snowy days of winter. But for me and many, it is the beginning of the football season. There are so many great things about football season. First at the high-school level, at Huntley High School, football has become like Friday Night Lights. We have a beautiful new (couple of years old) stadium. For every home game the past couple of years it is packed. There are even people tailgating in the parking lot. There is something so great about high school football, I think it is just kids playing for the love of the game. The business part of the game hasn’t permeated the play on the field yet. For me personally, I have the honor of calling the Huntley High School games on Huntley Community Radio - 101.5 FM and streaming on huntleyradio.com. We have been broadcasting Huntley football for the past 3 years. Then there are Sundays. For me, I had a pre-marital arrangement that I would get Sundays to watch football - if I gave up Saturday college football. So Sundays for me consist of football from early morning until late at night. Sometimes with good food and sometimes with good friends, but always a fun day! Happy Fall!

10 Myths and Truths About Living Trusts – Part I Many individuals and families choose to use Living Trusts in their estate plan, along with Wills. Before you decide whether to use a trust, you should understand what living trusts can and cannot accomplish. Here are the first five myths and truths about living trusts: 1. Only Wealthy Families Need a Trust. MYTH. I hear this myth regularly. It stems from a misunderstanding of what trusts accomplish. Although trusts can be used as part of a strategy to minimize estate taxes, (which is only necessary if your assets are worth close to $4 million,) trusts are MOST OFTEN used to: (a) avoid probate on assets after death; (b) set up a delayed distribution schedule for young or disabled beneficiaries; and (c) provide for someone to step in and manage your assets for your benefit if you become disabled, thereby avoiding the court process of guardianship. These are goals that many families share, regardless of their level of wealth. Some families with currently small estates have large life insurance policies that they want to flow through a living trust so that the proceeds are spent on education rather than fast cars! 2. A Trust Protects Assets from the Claims of Creditors / Helps a Person Qualify for Medicaid. MYTH. Living trusts do not shield assets from creditors or help anyone qualify for Medicaid by removing assets from their personal accounts. Assets held in your

revocable living trust are still accessible by you for any purpose – therefore they also are available to your creditors. Sometimes IRREVOCABLE trusts are used for asset protection purposes, but they are not used in a family’s estate plan without serious discussion and consideration. 3. A Trust Requires a Lot of Paperwork. MYTH. During your life your trust does not file a separate tax return or any other government report. When it needs a tax i.d. number (to open a bank account, for example) it simply uses your social security number. Interest or other income earned on trust assets is recorded on your tax return. Most life events do not create a need to amend your trust, such as having a baby or selling your home. Amendments are necessary to change a successor trustee or to add or remove a beneficiary, but amendments are usually not expensive for your attorney to draft. NEVER WRITE A CHANGE ON AN ORIGINAL TRUST OR WILL – IT WILL NOT BE VALID. After your death your trust will need its own tax i.d. number and will file its own tax return if the trust will continue to hold assets. If all assets are fully distributed at your death, only one tax return (or, possibly, not even one) will need to be filed. 4. Trusts can be Creatively Drafted for My Personal Situation. TRUTH. Many of us

have complicated, blended families and children who may not be mature enough to receive an inheritance at age 18. Some families have disabled adults or children. Some families are so devoted to their pets that they want to make sure these family members are well taken care of. Some parents are befuddled by having a valuable family business, but less than all of their children are involved in that business. Almost any contingency can be successfully addressed by the careful wording of a trust – but remember - the more complicated the instructions, the more difficult the task you leave for your successor trustee. Also, make sure your instructions are funded – perhaps life insurance should be an asset of the trust if you want trust money to be available for an extended period after your death. 5. Trust Income Tax Rates are Higher. TRUTH. Only after your death will the trust be required to file its own tax return, but the higher trust income tax rates should be considered when you are setting up the trust. When you are planning whether to include provisions in your trust that delay distributions for some time after your death, discuss with your attorney and tax advisor how the higher trust income tax rates could affect your estate. Some families are very willing to pay the higher tax rate for the other benefits of a delayed distribution.

UNIQUE, CUSTOM JEWELRY, FOR YOUR ONE OF A KIND

1. Whisper Creek Golf Course resides in the beautiful community of Sun City Del Web. Can the community play golf here or is it for Sun City Residents only? Whisper Creek is open to everyone! Sun City and other Huntley residents do enjoy special resident pricing on golf and range balls, but a lot of our play comes from outside the community. On the weekends, golfers come from all over the greater Chicago area to play at Whisper Creek.

on tour, including 3 majors. One of those majors was the 1966 US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, where Billy defeated Arnold Palmer by 4 shots in an 18 hole playoff. Billy Casper teamed up Greg Nash to design Whisper Creek and after the course open he played the dedication round in May 2000 with three lucky residents who were picked from a drawing (Tom Benbennick, Gary Steinbach and Ron Zabadal). Although Whisper Creek is known as a firm test of golf, there are four different sets of tees that make the course playable for golfers of all abilities.

2. I’ve eaten at the Jameson’s Restaurant and have noticed quite a lot of the golf course’s trophies on display. What are some of these awards? One award is all the way from Wales. The trophies on display in the lobby are mostly from our club events, tournaments like our club championship, masters of the midway and two person better ball championship. Some of the other awards are for recognition from various charities such as The Fisher House Foundation for our fundraising efforts. The award from Whitechurch Golf Club in Wales commemorates a match played by residents of Sun City at Whisper Creek versus a visiting team from Whitechurch Golf Club.

4. I have a lot of friends who run 5013(c) non-profits and are always looking for great fundraising ideas. Golf outings seem to generate both a lot of fun and income for fundraising. Can you describe what to expect if I want to host a fundraiser at your course? Are you accepting reservations for 2019? Golf Outings are a great way for charities and organizations to raise funds. When you hold a fundraiser at Whisper Creek you are getting the support of a team that has the experience and skill set to insure that everything will go smoothly on the day of your event. Whisper Creek hosts over 4,000 events rounds each season and dates in August and September often fill up fast, but there is always room for new events. Whisper Creek offers very competitive pricing along with excellent banquet options (provided by our partner Jameson’s Charhouse), because of this we are great fit for 5013(c) non-profits that want to maximize their fundraising.

3. I’m a new golfer, I’ve heard that Arnold Palmer designed this course and that is incredibly difficult. Can I play it too? The golf course was actually designed by one of the other golf greats of Arnold Palmer’s era, Billy Casper. Billy Casper won 51 times

Rev!ews

Book Review by Annie Camille

The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg

Could prison really be worse than a retirement home? Five senior citizens plan the perfect crime to find out. Martha Andersson has had it with the prison like atmosphere at Diamond House Retirement Home. Bad food, limited coffee, and no exercise spell trouble for this spry old woman. With the help of a generous supply of cloudberry liqueur, she recruits her friends into forming The League of Pensioners, bent on committing a crime worthy of incarceration. Once caught, the pensioners quickly learn much from their fellow inmates—the next crime will certainly come off without a hitch. A merry, lighthearted caper.

Sports! Why Corey Crawford is the key to another Blackhawks postseason. There were many words to describe the Blackhawks goaltending situation last year but inconsistent is the most common word that comes to mind. The team used 5 goaltenders and an accountant to get through the season. Their best goaltender, Corey Crawford, only played about a quarter of the season before being shut down. While the Blackhawks wouldn’t directly say what his injury was the speculation arose that it was a concussion. Before Crawford got injured, the 33-year-old goaltender was the most consistent net minder, and in some games was the lone reason the Blackhawks came out with a win. So, in a year in which the Blackhawks are trying to get back to the playoffs in a very tough Western Conference the Blackhawks need Crawford now more than ever.

years and part of that is due to the revolving door of line mates he has had on the top line. The second is improvement on the blue-line, the team signed Brandon Manning but needs more consistent high-level play from Gustafsson, Murphy, and Rutta. The final and most obvious is Corey Crawford Curtis being healthy. Having Crawford Koch between the pipes is by far the Crawford missed three-plus biggest need for the Hawks this months of Chicago’s season season. There were more than a but, admitted he has been “a little handful of games in which if he was in net bit” concerned about his long-term and was at his best, the team could have Solutions : health.
