Welcome to Meaford Hall
Arts & Cultural Centre!
Originally opened in 1909 as the new Town Hall, this historic venue has been Meaford’s centre for prosperity and its community cultural hub for well over a century!
Not only was it Town Hall and Council Chambers that doubled as a court room; it also housed the police station, fully equipped with jail cells; the library; and market space overlooking market square. But the building has always included a beautiful Opera House on the top floor with its grand staircase, renowned acoustics, ornate plaster and not a bad seat in the house.
Eventually all services, but the theatre, vacated the building and in 2006, the Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre is essentially what you see today.
Thank you for considering our historically rich venue for your next event! Despite our big, beautiful exterior, Meaford Hall is the heart of the community and features a variety of rooms to suit all your entertainment, celebration, and corporate needs. Open year round, Meaford Hall is fully
accessible and offers barrier free customer service, washroom facilities, and an elevator that goes from street level to stage level with all stops in between. Wheelchair seating is also available on the orchestra level of the theatre.
Our main floor includes the Terrace Room, equipped with projector and screen for meetings and workshops but also includes kitchen and bar facilities as well as a lovely outdoor terrace, perfect for private events.
Tucked away, discreetly off the Terrace Room is a boardroom space that provides an intimate and private location for meetings or just to gather with a small group.
The Galleries on the second floor are bright and beautiful, creating an excellent exhibit space for artists to show their work. It is also the spot to be for a cocktail before and after the show or to host a special event of your own.
The 330 seat Opera House on the top floor offers balcony and main floor seating, exquisite acoustics, state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment and highly skilled staff, creating an intimate, entertainment experience that is second to none.

THE GALLERIES
The North and South Galleries offer a bright and airy space with a distinct “sun-kissed” effect, highlighted by walls of beautiful windows. Perfect for a wide variety of events, from celebrations, luncheons to wedding showers, this highly adaptable room evokes a warm, home-like feel.
This area serves as an ideal stand-alone event venue, or as a spacious cocktail space when both Galleries are rented together.

OPERA HOUSE
The top floor Opera House is the cultural jewel that regularly presents a variety of entertainment, including concerts, live theatre and film.
This premium performance venue seats a total of 331 people: 235 on the orchestra level and an additional 96 in the balcony.
The Opera House is known for its exquisite acoustics and is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology with in-house, highly skilled, professional technical staff.
The proscenium style stage is approximately 30’ wide and 25’ deep with generous wing space and backstage crossover. The stage is furnished with a motorized red main curtain, black velour masking curtains, and either an upstage white cyclorama or black traveler as the backdrop.
Elevator access available to the stage level for load-ins and to the dressing room facilities.

RENTAL FEES AND CHARGES
Community Clients will be determined according to criteria set out by Meaford Hall which includes but is not limited to either a formally organized non-profit community group located within the Municipality of Meaford or a group or family residing in the Municipality of Meaford wishing to host a not-for-profit event. All other clients will be subject to Commercial Rates. Non-Profit/Community clients are subject to a $250 cleaning fee, and Corporate/Commercial clients are subject to a $300 cleaning fee.
