Tectonic Maquette

This project was a side project that was worked on throughout the first half of the semester. Each week students had to add something to the house and create new drawings. There was a lot of creative freedom in this house the only rule was that it had to be within a 4 by 4 box. In this project, drawing language, a sense of scale, and design creativity was developed. The process of starting with one idea and developing that idea was also a very important lesson in this project.

Visionary Designer Edmund Bacon

The visionary designer project was a research presentation that was done to explain the background of Edmund Bacon. This project allowed for research on the history of Philadelphia and the importance of Bacon to be done. It helped learn skills such as researching and documenting along with creating a visual presentation

Case Study House Project 1

For Project 1, the house chosen was Ncaved House by MOLD Architects. This house was thoroughly studied and as a part of studying the house, we had to produce drawings, study models, and an actual model of the house. This gave a very intricate understanding of the house by the end of everything and it helped with understanding scale and researching skills.

Mondo Materialis Project 2

For Project 2, the goal was to make a 2D model, a perspective, and a 3D model of the house from the previous project that was studied. Three words in which had importance pertaining to the house had to be chosen and expressed abstractly though models. This projected helped to focus the information on the house and also encouraged abstract thinking.

Cabin Design Project 3

For the final project, it still had relation to the beginning case study house. The goal was to create a one person cabin that a person could stay in for a few months at a time.

It also had to have characteristics relating back to the mother house.

For this project, there was an actual site that was studied and built out of cardboard. Once the site for the cabin was selected the idea for the cabin started. This project gave knowledge of site analysis, using inspiration for a new building, and creating an entire building from scratch.
