Helton Cottage
GREENSBORO, ALABAMA
This is a renovation proposal for the Helton Cottage, which is owned by a 61-year-old retired travel nurse. The cottage holds a historic preservation easement on its façade, necessitating a design approach that caters to the owner’s needs while preserving the unique history of the property. Located in Greensboro, Alabama, the Helton Cottage dates back to the 1840s and is a one-story mid-19th-century Victorian home. Its charm is exemplified by the intricate latticework that adorns the front porch. The current size of the cottage is 800 square feet, with an additional 2,560 square feet of buildable space planned for expansion, resulting in a total of 3,360 square feet for the house.

Mariposa
SEVILLE, SPAIN
CONCEPT STATEMENT:
To craft a distinctive travel experience for discerning tourists within an upscale boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Seville, Spain, I have conceived the Mariposa Hotel, “Mariposa” being the Spanish word for “Butterfly.” The overarching concept of this design project draws inspiration from the “Feria de Abril.”
The essence of the “Feria de Abril” will be vividly brought to life in the hotel’s ambiance, where vibrant colors will serve as accents, evoking the spirit of spring that characterizes this festive event. Architectural elements from Sevillian and fair traditions will find expression through the incorporation of arches, thoughtfully crafted lighting, and meticulous detailing.
To authentically reflect the rich cultural tapestry of the fair, whimsical wall paneling, textural elements, bespoke furniture, and various artistic touches will be thoughtfully integrated throughout the hotel’s design, offering guests a genuine taste of this celebrated cultural experience.

FLOOR Two
Inspired by Seville’s “La Portada” at the Feria de Seville, this restaurant, “Nuevo Mundo” (meaning “New World”), transports diners through its grand arched entrance into a whole new experience. This concept infuses every aspect of the design, from arched structures and booth seating to opulent chandelier lighting and a chic color palette. This restaurant’s architecture echoes the grand gate’s geometric aesthetics, incorporating intricate patterns throughout to capture the essence of the Feria de Seville.

FLOOR Three
My hotel room concept is inspired by the horse carriages of the Feria de Seville. To extend the fair’s theme, I’ve incorporated arched elements and headboard designs resembling carriage wheels, as well as architectural beams to represent wheel spokes. Leather accents, such as decorative pillows and furniture materials, pay homage to carriage seats. Each room will feature a unique color scheme, mirroring the diverse designs and colors of these iconic carriages.
