Personal Statement

My design process is driven by curiosity about how people interact with the world around them—through connections with other humans, space, time, digital interfaces, and built environments. Understanding how people find meaningful connection and how design can optimize human experiences is at the core of my work.

Over the past ten years as a visual designer, I’ve had the opportunity to create for a range of industries, from designing for professional sports teams to crafting interactive experiences for a children’s hospital. This journey has shaped my skills, broadened my perspective, and strengthened my ability to design with purpose.

These skills have given me both the confidence and direction to pursue a career in interior design. At UTSOA, I am expanding my understanding of fundamental design principles for the built environment. More importantly, this journey has encouraged me to cultivate deeper human connections—both through academic projects and volunteer opportunities.

Core Studio III: Contextualizing

Lever House Exterior
Midtown Manhattan

390 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022

This exploration reveals how human made patterns influence spatial layout and identifies the core elements of a living unit, starting with the kitchen, and examines how these components influence how humans behave within the geometry of a compact living space. The study considers spatial efficiency, organization, and the intuitive paths that people take as they move through an environment. By analyzing different configurations, it seeks to uncover design strategies that optimize the use of space without sacrificing the usability of the space. In addition, this exploration reveals how transparency and aperatures impact space.
