Mission Our mission is to prepare our students to be arts practitioners with sets of skills and values that will make them active and responsible participants in society.

Balance visiting artist experiences, exposure to contemporary art through Galleries on campus, independent learning opportunities, and a senior project are balanced with studio work, history and theory courses

Encouragement Our program offers small classes and a low faculty-to-student ratio.

Students are encouraged to explore media from the tradition of paints to the precision of pixels.

Kimberly Tran “Art Serves as a gateway to the uncharted realms of the mind, inviting us to explore subjects that often remain concealed to the casual observer. In my capstone journey, I express my innermost emotions through the unapologtic use b bold lines, intense contrasts, and exaggerated forms.

Within these lines and forms, I lay bare my experiences of stress, anxiety, discomfort, and uncertainty, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in a captivating, contemplative encounter. Rather than solely evoking horror and grotesquery, my intention is to create an environment where viewers can intimately connect with the emotional turbulence of my work. My art calls upon them to openly embrace and feel the frustration and discomfort that I, as the creator, have experienced in a profound visible manner.”

I find that by becoming invested in these topics, whether concerning life, death, decay, or any other natural process, one can lessen the mental disconnect often caused by modern industrialized living. By illustrating some of these animals, I hope to both highlight their attributes and provoke further curiosity in the viewer about their role in the ecosystem.

Naturalistic illustration as a genre of art opens a borad range of potential avenues for subject matter, theme, and choiceof medium. The flora and fauna surrounding me in my hometown of Bunswick, Georgia, have been a consistent theme in my work, and the further I delve into understanding the enviornment’s complex inner workings, the more inspiration I am able to draw from it.

“Over The Summer, I attended a study abroad trip to Italy. With the inspiration from the photos I took, I recreated the pictures with acrylic painting using a stylistic apporach to help capture the feel of the scene. I chose scenes that seemed like they were from a fairlytale to use in my paintings becuase that is what best reflects what it felt like to be in Italy.”

“As a Printmaker and illustrator, I focus on layering and detail within my artwork.

I have produced this suite of prints in two varying sets to display my influence of natural imagery, which I have used as the subject to represent my own experiences and anxieties. In today’s society, it is very common to only see the perfect side of someone’s life, when in reality, we all experience different struggles and chaotic moments every day. Through this variation, I hope to highlight the difference between personal perception and authentic actuality.”

“With an emphasis on displaying how graphic design goes beyond the fusion of text and artwork, I have curated a collection of thoughtfully crafted objects drawing from eighteenth-century aesthetics. Being inspired by the expansion of blue used on Porcelain, I have taken my handmade ceramics and added a contemporary flare to my personal style, which includes grid structures, geometric shapes, and fluid contours.

In the process of creating Studio Blu, I have taken my niche style of ceramic creation and formed it into a cohesive brand identity, including graphics, a logo, color scheme, and photography. By doing so, I am not only the designer of Studio Blu but also the marketer of the brand. Studio Blu has been created for anyone who appreciates intentionally hand-crafted objects.”

Anjali Shenoy, Mass Communication Major and Photography Minor, graduated from Georgia College and State University in August of 2023.

Since then, she has started her own photography company anj.photographs.

While at Georgia College, Anjali had the opportunity to study abroad in Sweden, Norway, and other places in Europe. While visiting she was able to develop her catalog and took several photographs of the people in Sweden and Norway as well as naturalistic photos of the environment. Anjali says, After graduation, she felt more than prepared to start her own business as a photographer, because of the skills she learned while attending GC. 23
