Having to get to experience going to AVRA was absolutelty wonderful. Not only was all of the food unique to me, they also tasted delicious. My favourite was definitely the kachapuri as I love to eat cheese. I also liked the khinkali. It tasted very similar to pasta, or chewy dumplings as they also had minced meat inside.
The chkmeruli’s chicken was tender and the garlic accentuated the dish in a plethora of aspects. Drink-wise, the tahun lemonade was
zingy, like a soda pop, but with an aftertaste unfamiliar to me. Lastly, the dessert - syrniki, was not one my favourites (probably because I dislike the taste of when overly sweet and overly savoury meet), but I would predict that any other individual would enjoy it as all my friends had no problem downing the dish.
The restaurant’s interior was also decorated in theme which suited the atmosphere and the food well. Overall a good experience, although the price is on the high side.

At first, Ethiopian food can be intimidating due to the look and spices in each dish. The injera, a fermented flatbread, does not have the best smell and is very sour when eaten by itself. Injera also has many holes so it does look slightly scary. However, when the injera is paired with the different spices that the dish comes with, especially Doro wat and the Ethiopia Meat Combo, it is very tasteful.
We had ordered a Banana filled Sambusa as the dessert. The spring roll wrapper itself is very nice and light when eating. It is also served with ketchup and makes a wonderful match. By the end, we ordered 2 servings because it was so delicious. Sambusa are definitely the highlight of this meal and it is a very enjoyable dish. Anyone who comes is able to eat it with no worries.
One major cultural shock is eating with our hands instead of using a fork and spoon. This was expected since the moment we came into the restaurant, there were not any individual plates given out but rather eating together directly from the plate it was served in. It was an eye opening experience, however, the smell of the spices and flavorful food would stick to your hands for a little while. Overall this experience is definitely something you cannot find at any other reaturant.
