Popular IELTS Writing Topics for General Training Module Task 1 Many candidates of the International English Language Testing System or the IELTS know that there are two different kinds of modules in the IELTS – the Academic and the General Training modules. Each module differs from the content of their reading and writing sections. Furthermore, the listening and the speaking sections are just the same. The main difference of the two modules is the level of difficulty that they have in the sections mentioned. Let us see what challenge the General Training Module Task 1 has for its candidates.
IELTS Writing Task 1 for General Training Module The task 1 asks the candidate to write a letter based on a specific task given. The context and the purpose of the letter will solely base on the demand stated in the task. To further understand this, these are some writing topics used in the General Training Module Task 1.
Sample 1 • You live in a room in college which you share with another student. You find it very difficult to work there because he or she always has friends visiting. They have parties in the room and sometimes borrow your things without asking you. Write a letter to the Accommodation Officer at the college and ask for a new room next term. You would prefer a single room. Explain your reasons. You should write at least 150 words. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with my current roommate; hence, I am requesting to be transferred to another room in the next semester. The problem is that I cannot focus on studying in my room as my roommate keeps bringing people into our unit. He also holds parties which last until the wee hours in the morning. Additionally, he uses my things without even asking for my approval. This situation is unacceptable. The finals are coming and it is important for me to study hard for that. I will be very thankful if you could help me find another room for the next semester. It will be very convenient if I can have the room to myself. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely, Raymond Smith
