Barriers to Communication

A barrier in communication is a blockage that prevents to transmit your message and it could become distorted causing confusion and misunderstanding to the receiver or group of receivers.

There are many barriers to communication and these may occur at any stage in the communication process.

Language Difference in language is the most obvious barrier to communication as two people speaking two different languages can affect the communication channel in the organization.

Psychological and Physiological Factors A disturbed state of mind can disturb the communication and different limitations of the body and mind may also create barriers.

Emotional Factors An emotionally balanced or mature person can communicate with ease and comfort.

Physical factor It includes the environment, distance, and ignorance of medium to have an effective communication.

Cultural differences Countries has different cultures, values, behaviors patterns, opinions, body language, etc. So, while communicating, consideration of different cultures is required.

Organizational factors It refers to the hindrances in the flow of information among the employees that might result in a commercial failure of an organization.
