OFFSCHOOL EXPLORER

World Walker: Singapore Chapter

During this academic year, IPC staff and students, accompanied by the school director, Mr. Panya Hatti, embarked on a ful fi lling and rewarding 4-day educational excursion to Singapore from March 2225, 2024. These excursions provided students with invaluable hands-on learning opportunities, exposure to diverse perspectives, and treasured memories.

The first stop was Gardens by the Bay , where students had the opportunity to observe the ‘supertrees’ at close range. These structures are solar-powered and serve multiple functions, including acting as air venting ducts and collecting rainwater, demonstrating principles of sustainability.

Over the next two days, our itinerary included visits to Singapore Science Centre, NEWater Visitor Centre, and Sustainable Singapore Gallery. At Singapore Science Centre , students engaged in hands-on activities and interactive exhibits designed to make learning more exciting. Meanwhile at NEWater Visitor Centre, students learnt about the innovative process of water purification and its critical role in Singapore’s sustainable development efforts. The Singapore Sustainable Gallery provided students with a comprehensive overview of the country’s sustainability initiatives and efforts to combat climate change, conserve water resources, cultivate native plant species, and promote responsible recycling habits.

We also seized the opportunity to enhance our students’ English language skills at Singapore Management University. For half a day, IPC students engaged in various interactive activities designed to test and improve their English proficiency. From identifying grammatical errors in phrases to creating words using the last letter of a

that will endure for years to come.

The four-day educational excursion to Singapore was a significant experience for all involved. Thoughtfully organized, it provided students with opportunities to explore topics like biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices. They also gained vital life skills, including travel etiquette , punctuality , and mutual support . While some places may serve as sources of inspiration, igniting curiosity and motivation, others have the potential to transform us. They broaden our global perspectives and foster a deeper sense of empathy and understanding towards others. Singapore will always leave an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.
