As we reflect on the past 16 months, Jefferson Center has a lot to be grateful for. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have helped sustain us through this period. Béla Fleck returns to Jefferson Center’s Shaftman Performance Hall with an all-star group of bluegrass musicians performing music from My Bluegrass Heart. Fleck returns to his bluegrass banjo roots alongside fiddler, Michael Cleveland; mandolinist, Sierra Hull, multi-instrumentalist, Justin Moses; bassist, Mark Schatz, and guitarist, Bryan Sutton.

For over twenty-five years, Gipsy Kings have captured the world’s imagination with their blend of traditional flamenco styles and Western pop rhythms. Theirs is a music that extends through generations, to the sounds of their ancestors, and reflects an eclectic and storied history. “We have matured, we have developed in music, and it has been so good for us,” says lead guitarist Tonino Baliardo.

An amazing trio of jazz veterans playing the best songs from the American songbook. Cutting edge interpretations of songs you know. Colligan is highly in demand as a sideman, having worked with players like Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, Cassandra Wilson, Ravi Coltrane, and many others, both on the bandstand and in recording sessions (appearing on over 150 CDs). Here he is joined by veteran bassist Paul Langosch and drummer Erme Katari.

With a voice as smooth as velvet, Samara Joy’s star seems to rise with each performance.

In 2019, the vibraphonist-composer released his anticipated Blue Note debut KingMaker to eruptive critical acclaim. He’s topped the DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star category for vibraphone and in 2017, he became one of the youngest artists to receive a coveted Residency Commission from The Jazz Gallery.

Right off of the streets of New Orleans, the best in traditional early jazz swing. Formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences—from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz—their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home.

The band has gained a loyal following through their distinctive sound, their commitment to reviving long-lost songs, and their barnstorming live performances.

Yasmin Williams is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist with an unorthodox, modern style of playing. Her music has been commonly described as refreshing, relaxing, and unique and has been called some of the most imaginative guitar music out today. She utilizes various techniques including alternate tunings, percussive hits, and lap tapping in her music to great effect. She has won various local talent shows, was a finalist in the Rolling Stones Young Gun guitar competition, was the Grand prize winner of New York University’s Ultra Violet Live talent show, and won the Gold Prize in the Instrumental category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.

Formed in Dublin in 2007, Celtic Thunder is a multidimensional musical and theatrical ensemble celebrated around the world for emotionally powerful performances and a state-of-the-art production. Billboard Magazine has named Celtic Thunder the Top World Album Artist (in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2016) while the group has had Albums placed in the World Album Top 10 every year since 2008.
