Collaborating on hospitality projects has allowed me to incorporate a previous career in hospitality before architecture and a passion for leisure environments to create places for memorable experiences.

A mixed-use hotel & retail project covering a city block in South Beach Miami. Amenity spaces include a restaurant, bar, lounges & pool club.
Ken Fulk Inc. role as Creative Director encompasses conceptual design through construction administration of entire guest experience from valet thru hotel, restaurant, and pool club.
Role: Interior Architect Project Management
• Coordinate Design Execution with all consultants.
• Hotel Branding Package Concept
• Model Room Mock-up (MUR)
• Hotel room design for all atypical room-types.
• Interior Design of all public spaces.
• Pool Club Design.

The sum of these elegant and eccentric parts—is that the Goodtime Hotel is an example of the “daylife” trend, where special attention is devoted to daytime over nighttime programming. architectural digest

ROLE:
Interior Architect
My first project at Ken Fulk, diving into the ‘magic factory’! Collaborated with designers to develop ideas into grand spaces. Managed construction administration to ensure design intent was executed throughout the 49 floor building.
CONCEPT / NARRATIVE
A Few Words from Ken Fulk:
[Communal spaces] “are all about building community”. “People have a strong desire to connect with one another, and we designed these moments for residents to gather, to linger, and to have more opportunities to engage one another."
‘Ken wanted the apartment to feel like a refuge, wanted people to walk through their doors and exhale,” says Fulk. “It should feel beautiful and comforting.”
The karaoke box is an intimate and isolated space containing intense emotional interaction among the participants.
Spectacle is represented by an extreme diversity of identities, yet rarely experienced in its pure context, since the diluted simulation has made the original obsolete.
The Blues is an example, where no true blues musician can make a living on his art, the foundation of rock & roll, yet the House of Blues is available in many cities with its iconic blues aesthetics and predictable culture.
The intense, compressed, space of the box isolates it from all context, thus is an opportunity to transport one into an aesthetic - simulation.

PROJECTS PATTERNS
Performance Material Forms
Projects represent explorations of
• Conceptual Pattern-Making
• Material Intelligence
• Digital Fabrication
These forms are generated from processes that infuse a form with performative properties while generating its own aesthetic system.

Performative Exoskeleton
CONCEPT
Genetic Form Evolution
Adapt exoskeleton principles to a structural skin module that effects an assembled system.
Theory / Technology Explored:
 Versioning Process (not prototype)
 Embedded Intelligence
 Laser Cutting Technology
Desired Emerging Conditions:
Micro: Module Performance
Precision hardware
Macro: Geometric arch form
Team Project
Technique: Laser Cutting
Material: Mylar
1. Research Exoskeleton + Biomimicry
Exo·skel·e·ton noun 1847
1 : an external supportive covering of an animal (as an arthropod)
2 : bony or horny parts of a vertebrate produced from epidermal tissues
3 : an artificial external supporting structure
BioMimicry
Example: Aphid-Plant Lice
Rotational overlap-joint
The surface(s) undulates (baroque "fold") and the undulations of the 2 surfaces intersect in 3D complexity to develop structural integrity.
It is similar to a medicine bottle, where two offset extrusions around a cylinder, move past each other, rotate one unit, and lock in place.
Performance Goals of Evolved Form
1. When combining multiple systems, combine the overlaping or separate characteristics.
2. The structure, surface, & connection relationships need to mutate to allow macro & micro performative effects.
3. Surface to Structure ratio effects malleable capacity.
4. Material Grain direction determines macro form.
5. Connections or hardware built into the material has so much potential and versions by shiftinglocation or features.
6. Structure axial rotation effects macro form.
Module Iteration
Experimenting
The DNA code (form characteristics) of features, scale, dimensions, tentacle length, etc. evolve and adapt according to current & desired performative macro & micro conditions.

Module Components: A
‘Hardware’ connects to D on next forward module. B
‘Hardware’ connects to adjacent module.
C

D
The angle of slit ‘D’ crates a structural torque on the modules & the assemblies overall ‘form’.
Each slit angle of each module row increases slightly.
