Go surfing. Try paddleboarding. Volunteer at a beach cleanup, or work at one of the many nearby world-class resorts. Whatever you do, get ready to embrace the lifestyle of one of the most low-key, naturally spectacular areas in the whole country.

• Vibrant local arts and culture scene, with theatre, live performances, and events

The Golden Isles were named

Travel + Leisure

WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN ISLES. Brunswick is part of Georgia’s celebrated Golden Isles, which includes the barrier islands of St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and Little St. Simons Island. St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island are just a short trip over the causeway from the college.

CULTURE, CHARM, COMMUNITY. Brunswick, Savannah, and Jacksonville each have their own distinct personalities, but put them together and you have endless options for food, music, art, shopping, anything. Feel like more of a road trip? The world-class theme parks of Orlando are only 3.5 hours away.

The only college with its own island. Yep, it’s true – we have a unique relationship with Jekyll Island, and as a full-time student you’ll get your own free access pass.

Get your hands dirty and YOUR FEET WET.

Learning by doing is everything. At Coastal Georgia, you’ll put your classroom knowledge to work in real time, with real experiences. Our extensive network of community partnerships means countless opportunities to apply what you know in interesting, enriching, and meaningful ways. That could mean anything from test-hacking a local company’s cyber security system to conducting research with Jekyll Island’s Sea Turtle Center to honing your hospitality management skills at a AAA five-diamond island resort.

What does “experiential learning” mean exactly? It means you’re out in the world actively participating and contributing. At Coastal Georgia, it takes many forms.

SERVICE-LEARNING pairs coursework with service activities. It’s a chance to apply your course content in practical ways while gaining an in-depth understanding of community issues and outreach efforts.

INTERNSHIPS drop you into professional settings and allow you to build your resume and better understand the day-to-day operations of your chosen career.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES typically involve collaborating with faculty, often co-authoring and co-presenting substantive research and reports (and making your graduate school applications stand out).

STUDY ABROAD is just what it sounds like. A chance to live and study in another country and immerse yourself in a totally new culture, language, and environment.

ACTIVE, ENGAGED LEARNING

• Make learning matter with service-learning opportunities

• Get involved in research as early as freshman year
