Each person views the world in their respective perceptions. These perceptions are shaped by the influence of their peers, institutions they belong to, or the kind of environment they have. By stepping out of one’s zones, an individual gains more knowledge and empathy towards the motivations and needs of parties with different lenses. This is how the designer shaped his perception in architecture.
This portfolio is the designer’s collection of works upon having viewed design from the lenses of his education, his experiences, and his exposure to the profession and the craft. More than an exposition of architectural graphics and finesse, this collection imparts the author’s philosophy in design- that architecture should be contextual to the people it will be serving.
Afterall, what makes an architectural building significant is the designer’s vision for his end-users.

Eccentric. Equatorial. Ease.
Apart from the distinct E-shaped canopy, the proposal for a residential building made use of the three adjectives in the entire design process. The E-House revisits the identity of the client’s past houses , while harnessing the familiar silhouettes of a vernacular Filipino household.
The client had a distinct liking to experimental and geometric design accents. As a property specialist, the client explained that the designs had been a staple in the houses they have sold since it is striking enough to attract potential buyers.
In order to grasp the client’s brief, the facade had been treated with daring diagonal lines to create motion in the stillness of the architecture. To balance the exterior’s boldness, the architectural interior was designed to be as light and homey as a Filipino home. Interior spaces are backdropped in white, adorned with tropical and vibrant accents to continue the visual elements of the exterior.
Fusing the eccentricity of the elements without compromising the comfortable vibe of a family home was a challenge- but it was a challenge accomplished.

The interior spaces were studied to grasp the client’s preferrence and render the character of the user to the spaces. This was done through the creation of mood boards.
The main living space includes the Foyer, Living Area, Stairwell, Powder room, Kitchen, and Dining. The interior concept the designer wanted to capture for these spaces is Light and Airy Elements from the building facade (lines and colors) are continued onto the room, and are balanced out with light shades of wood and concrete, tropical furniture, plants, and golden accents.
For the private spaces, the goal is to continue what is established with the facade and main living spaces. A Blush Tropical theme is fitting to give a sense of rest and recreation. Pastel-colored walls and tropical furniture are the main elements.

An architectural gem tucked in the middle of a resort village, to say the least for this project.
Atop the whole building, two shed roofs stand with opposite sweeping diagonals. The floating roofs create the character, which coined the name the Two Towers.
The only brief that the client wanted for the house is to be a head-turner, as the site sits on the corner of two streets. The façade is treated in a symmetrical fashion, balancing the design elements of the house for visual equilibrium. White and a medium Cherry Brown was chosen as the main colorway to give spectators the impression of a humble and comfortable home. The crown of the building- the floating shed roofs are the cherry- on-top of the building, which makes it even more noticeable and iconic.

The client wanted the residence to be a humble edifice of their success. To achieve the said impression, simple colors and textures were used extensively but are elevated with grandiose accents and elements.
The designer studied the day-today activities of the family in their primary house to create a logical and personalized space planning concept. The main design concern that they experienced in their initial house is that they cannot separate their work and rest, since the main living spaces double as an place to attend their business. As a tightknit family, this is their struggle as they cannot bond well in the house as the work clutter prevents them from doing so.
The plan is to divide the rest and the work spaces to simplify the functions of each space. The entrance takes
you to a foyer and an office, where they can attend business as they arrive and leave the house. An open plan for the living, dining, and kitchen is suggested to initiate conversation among family and guests. An accessible guest bedroom is also allocated for an elderly family relative. More private spaces are located in the second floor, with two balconies serving a view of the majestic Mt. Apo and the beach. There are three bedrooms for each member, with a personal walk-in-closet, and toilet and bath.
The mission for the interiors is to use the design elements of the exterior, while forging it with the personal characters of the users. For the general spaces, the client requested that it enunciates luxury while being ornamented with floral paintings and murals.
RIGHT: Wood will be the primary texture for the general interiors spaces, which is a continued element from the facade. This will be supported with marble and gold accents for a pop of luxury. Tertiary colors (ideally for the soft furnishings) will be dependent on the floral wall or painting motif.

The designer elevates the interiors of an existing two-storey residential building proposal. The client, being a social bachelor, visualizes his home to be a reflection of his masculinity and warmth.
The designers were given the liberty to elevate the architectural interiors based from an exterior perspective and approved floor plans. The client is a bachelor, who wanted his house to be quite mysterious and masculine. The facade already exhibited much of these characteristics, thus what is seen on the outside is brought inside.
Stone and wood cladding was reintroduced into the interior space, pairing it with rustic and midcentury elements. Warm lighting were also added to bring moodiness and drama, while also accentuating focal points. Most imporantly, straight and sharp elements were used to induce masculinity in design.
The project was approved on late 2021, whie the actual construction of the project commenced on mid2022.
The color scheme of the house was derived from the values that the client wanted to see in his house. These colors are also seen in the existing façade design of the building, carried out into the indoors.
Black dominates the spaces, but are of different texture- from wood, stone, steel, and glass. This darkness is neutralized by the introduction of dark oak accents and warm lighting. Pops of white also provide emphasis and rest to the eyes.

As solid devotees of the Santo Niño de Cebu, this influential family dedicates their success and this project to their patron. This divine meets resort-themed project exemplifies the harmony between, nature, man, and gods.
The client’s technical requirements for the project is for it to be a relaxing abode while being able to host parties and gatherings. The residence should have an element of surprise as guests continue to unfold the spaces of the house. It shall consist of six bedrooms, a pool area, a display for their motorcycle collection, and plenty of space for parking. Also, the current site is rich of lumber such as Mahogany, Kamagong, and Lauan, which the client requested to be utilized.
The client drew two things on a piece of paper during the client meeting.
The first is an image of the Santo Niño de Cebu, which they want the house to be inspired from. They want to see the image of the Santo Niño in the facade design. The second is a D-shaped plan, representing the first letter of the client’s surname. This D-shape should be the basis for the building definition, which will dictate the arrangement of the spaces.
To execute the D-shaped plan, the building footprint will have to go around a central open landscape. From that idea, zones are identified based on the client’s requirements- main living spaces, parking space, private spaces, private deluxe spaces, transitory space, and the recreational facility. Thus, the D-shape will be split into four zones.
The spatial zones are elongated to a straight, quadrilateral D-shape to fit proportionally to the site’s wide fabric. Linking the zones to form two separate buildings, the residential building will host the semi-private/private spaces, while the cabana will be a semi-public space. Bedrooms will be separated by pocket gardens to provide the premium, resort-like privacy for better relaxation.
The goal for the house’s utility is to be a private retreat for the client. The use of simple and local materials are instilled in the symmetrical building form- creating a relaxing silhouette of Balinese/Tropical architecture. The concept exemplifies the harmony of human, nature, and gods into this divine resort-themed residence.
The site will feature six buildings and facilities, namely the Entrance Gate, a six-car open parking space, a fourcar capacity garage, the residential building, the Cabana, and open parking for the guests visiting the Cabana. The total footprint is 4050 sqm.

A PURPOSEFUL SPACE. The central lawn garden located at core of the residential building and the cabana will be a multipurpose lawn which can cater to the functional needs of the client. This is where they can host parties and gatherings with large attendance. VisualizationbyJanRabanes.
RESORTONAFARM.The overall aesthetics of the residential building resonates Balinese villas. The view from the cabana transports guests into a resort despite being on a farm.
D-POOL. The D-shaped reference to the client’s surname is more noticeable in the pool area.
SHOWCASE. A collection of classic motorcycles will welcome guests entering the Cabana entrance, as the clients are huge enthusiasts.

Overwhelmed by the scale of the project, the client requested to downsize the development from their 7500 square meter lot to their other 276 square meter plot of land. Contented with the initial design, the client requested to retain the façade aesthetics and the Santo Niño references in the new development.
The use of lumber and stones were still reflected on the new development, which was present in the old proposal’s aesthetics. The roof’s flaring shape was also derived with the addition of the spire for an added Balinese character. The element of surprise, the antesala, and the Niño-inspired entrance (downscaled from a porte cochere to a waiting shed) is still present in the new residential proposal.

BahayHabi is a proposed resettlement project to house the displaced families from downtown Davao.
BahayHabi is a wordplay of Filipino words bahay (house) and habi (weave). The name suggests interwoven homes interconnected into one united community.
Located in the urbanizing barangay of Mintal, BalayHabi offers 672 units for low to middle income-earning families. The units are tailored to the Filipino’s concept of domesticity, while offering flexibile space and elements for the family’s personalization. Aside from providing new homes, the resettlement complex offers commercial spaces, livelihood and community facilities, and recreational amenities- which stimulate the community life of the homeowners.
BahayHabi envisions to become a model Filipino community of the future, prioritizing the homemaking culture of Filipinos above all else.
The residential buildings are the main highlight of the urban resettlement complex. It is equipped with a total of 672 room units for approximately 3000 low-income beneficiaries. Each of the three-storey residential buildings’ floor has thirty-two (32) units, having 16 units per wing. The units allocated per floor were grouped based on the likeliness of the setting cues and floor layouts.
Apart from the units, several social spaces are allotted for communitybuilding.
Becoming a public space buffer from the complex development to the main road, the commercial building is situated at the façade of the development. This commercial building shall serve as an immediate business hub catering to residents and outsiders alike.
The community and livelihood facility of the complex aims to provide spaces which enhance basic livelihood skills and spaces which the community can utilize to generate sustainable income. Through the facility, the community can come together for livelihood activities and manage the upkeep of the whole resettlement complex.

With the collaboration of Yangyang Development Services, the designer was invited to take part in a module design challenge for SKS Interiors Incorporated. The given design brief was that the module should feature the selected tile and vanity collections from the said interior depot, with the theme #TileToThrive.
The design brief required to feature SKS’ Bamboo Cladding, Fino Tile Collection, and one SKS Vanity Collection of the designer’s choice. Natural tones and hints of elegance was the direction they wanted to take with the module. Fortunately, the materials were able to accomplish the brief.
The designers’ rendition of the #TileToThrive concept encourages spectators to reach one’s summit through APEX.
