ABOUTJCIMALAYSIA

Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCI Malaysia) is a National Organization affiliated to Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide leadership development organization for young people aged 18 to 40.

Currently there are more than 70 JCI local organizations affiliated with JCI Malaysia located in various states of Malaysia

The Junior Chamber movement was introduced to Malaya in 1954 Junior Chamber in Sarawak and Junior Chamber in Sabah were affiliated to Junior Chamber International in 1956 and in 1963 respectively On 11th October 1975, Junior Chamber Malaysia was formed with the signing of a Merger Agreement between the three separate national organisations in Kuala Lumpur. A protem Board of Directors under the chairmanship of JCI Senator V T Nathan, Past President of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was founded This Protem Board was appointed to look into the registration of the new organisation to be known as Junior Chamber Malaysia In 1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia obtained temporary registration from the Registrar of Societies to operate The 1st National Convention was held in 1976 itself in Kuala Lumpur. At this National Convention, JCI Senator George Chang was elected the First National President about JCI Malaysia.

The JCI Malaysia National Board of Directors is managed by JCI members representing various local organisations, who are all volunteers and serve on a "1 year to lead" basis The National Board of Directors is elected during the Annual National Convention held in October each year, and is supported by the JCI Malaysia Secretariat headquartered in Taman Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur

JCI Johor Bahru Entrepreneur is founded by Datin Kuan Chu Ling in year 2006

Back in those days, most of the JCI local organisation were using English as main language. Chinesespeaking local organisations, in the other hand, were mainly based in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Therefore, our chartered president Datin Kuan has taken the initiative to start the first Chinese-speaking local organisation in the southern region of Malaysia. Hence, the birth of JCI Johor Bahru Entrepreneur.

Today, JCI Johor Bahru Entrepreneur is proudly known as The Largest Local Organisation in Johor and TOP 3 Active Local Organisation in Malaysia with a proven track record of maintaining a 5-Star Rating for many consecutive years

“Best of the Best Project” is granted to the most outstanding and sustainable project that helps to advance the most goals.

The JCIM Sustainable Development Awards is granted to sustainable projects conducted by Malaysian companies and organizations that advance any of the UN Sustainable Development Goal. It is open for companies, government agencies and NGOs to compete. The objective of the JCIM SDA is to raise awareness of UNSDG in the public and recognize companies/organizations that have organized projects that help advance these goals or implemented sustainable initiatives/focus in their business operations.

Under the auspices of the United Nations, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were endorsed by 193 countries in September 2015 as an over-arching policy framework through 2030. The IMF is committed to the SDGs, and is supporting its members in their implementation in areas relevant to its mandate of financial stability and sustainable and inclusive economic growth. At a broad level, IMF engagement on the SDGs is aligned with the five SDG pillars of People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, and Partnership

One of the landmark moments in United Nations happened in 2015, when the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) was adopted by all of its member states. At the heart of the 17 UNSDGs lie the urgent call for action by every stakeholder in a global partnership. JCI is part of this global partnership working in tandem with the United Nations.

At the home front, JCI Malaysia released a declaration at its National Convention in 2015 announcing our commitment to help educate, promote and conduct sustainable projects in-line with the UNSDG. In 2016, the JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award was officially endorsed as an annual program of JCI Malaysia. At the local level, many local organisations in JCI Malaysia have since adopted UNSDG in the projects which they conducted.

It is on this note that I extend my best compliments to JCI Johor Bahru Entrepreneur, the Organising Chairman Peter Chua and his team for leading in action in hosting the 2023 JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award JCI Johor Bahru Entrepreneur’s ability to build relationships and create successful collaboration with external partners are highly evident This also showcased their abilities in positioning itself as an organisation which unites all sectors of societies to create sustainable impact.

I would like to urge all the readers to actively encourage organisations whom you believe have showcased their commitment to UNSDG to nominate for this award. Do not let their good work go unnoticed so that more people can be inspired to uphold UNSDG.
