Dear Brier and Chloe, I want to have an action packed summer. What are some things to do in Jeff City?
Brier: Some of my favorite things to do in Jefferson City are walking downtown with friends, going to the Capitol during the Fourth of July to watch fireworks, and going on trails at the Runge or the Katy Trail. Overall one of the best things to do to have an action packed summer is getting out of the house and exploring. Try to avoid being on electronics all summer.
Chloe: Making the most of the summer is definitely something I'm keeping in mind too. For fun activities such as yoga, book and art clubs, movie nights, and more, check out Missouri River Regional Library's monthly calendar. If you ' re looking to explore nature or take a hike, consider going to Binder Park, the Runge, or the Katy Trail. Lastly, check out our Summer Bucket List and Summer Sports page for more ideas!

The summer hosting program we do is meant to give an opportunity to local students and families to host a student from Spain over a 4 week period in the summer. The students come to practice their English and experience Midwestern culture. The mission of the program is to make lifelong friendships with people from Spain, and in doing so widen one's worldview by making international friends.
Spaniards get to practice their English, learn about American culture and make friends in the US. American host families add excitement and story to their summer by making lifelong friends from Spain, practice their Spanish (if they have studied Spanish in school), and ultimately widen their worldview as the world becomes smaller after you have friends in other countries that you can easily keep up with through social media.
Many of our students/families who have hosted have gone over to Spain to visit the Spaniard they hosted. Over the 12 years we have done this program, Jefferson City has hosted over 150 teenagers from Spain.
a) Lake of the Ozarks to hang out, swim, go tubing (1st time for all Spaniards) and wake surf.
b) Six Flags c) Cards-Royals baseball game in STL along with touring the Arch
c) Float trip (1st time for all Spaniards)
d) 3 day Tour of Chicago
e) Spain vs. USA soccer match with students from Spain and American students

May is Asian-American Pacific Islander Month, so there is no better time to recognize and analyze the national flag of Nepal! This flag is interesting because it is the only national flag to be a non-quadrilateral shape. The crimson red is Nepalās national color, and it symbolizes the spirit of the Nepalese people. The blue border represents peace. The flag is the shape of two pennons because of the countryās two rival branches of the ruling dynasty. -Zack
