I write to share with you that my second four-year term on the Delta Township Board will come to a close this year. After countless hours of deliberation, and with my family in full agreement, my public service as your Delta Township Trustee will end when my term expires this year. I have made the difficult decision not to seek re-election. I am extremely grateful and honored to have been given the opportunity to serve Delta Township’s citizens and businesses for two terms since first being elected in 2008. Having been raised in Delta Township, and my love for our community, my decision was not a casual or easy one. My daughters have reached ages where their interests keep my wife and I in constant motion. Between family commitments, work related travel, volunteerism, and public service, something must yield. While I have never known anything other than wearing multiple hats, the conflicts for my time have become unfair to everyone. Since first running for the Delta Township Board in 2008, my goals have included:      

Continuing to provide outstanding public safety and other Township services without increasing financial burdens on our residents; Maintaining a family friendly community; Embracing regional common denominators through shared service agreements in order to leverage economies of scale and ensure lower costs; Protecting the sanctity of our neighborhoods while at the same time ensuring managed commercial growth; Encouraging commercial infill of existing properties on the east corridor of W. Saginaw Hwy.; and Furthering Delta’s Non-Motorized Transportation Plan and existing park system.

I am pleased to say that with the help of my colleagues and the outstanding employees of Delta Township, these goals have continued to be furthered throughout my two terms. While these are by no means an exhaustive list of accomplishments, they are among the most important. While only slightly more than nine months remain in my current term as your Trustee, I want to assure you that I will continue my commitment to proudly serve all of you. Thank you for respecting my decision and for your years of support. I will leave office in November knowing that Delta Township’s future remains bright. I thank each of you for the trust you have placed in me. Together, we have accomplished a great deal.

To my wife Lisa, and our daughters Lauren and Aubrie, I want to thank you for accepting my hectic schedule over the last seven-plus years. While I am extremely proud and grateful for all of the votes I earned in election years, they pale in comparison to your votes of confidence, endless support and love. I love you all dearly. Public service is certainly not for the faint of heart. It involves a tremendous amount of hard work, courage and time. That said, my time on the Delta Township Board has been without regrets and extremely rewarding. Sincerely, Jeff Hicks Delta Township Trustee
