The people now comming to the square are mainly from two direction. one is on the north , the other is from the south, they go through the zebra crossing from the industrical buildings side. the future plan we will according to these two main walking flow.

-SITE ANALYSIS GREEN RESERVE THE TREES

RESERVING

The key word here is “reserve”. The reason why we want to reserve the greening is because of In Fotian, espect for the valley. we don’t have much greening in the site, because of the high density of the vertical industrial buildings. So we are plan to reserve the main tree and reorganize the lanscape. Which become of the lankmark of our square.

REORGANIZE THE GROUD-FLOOR GREENING (UNSYSTEMED)

In the original site on the both side of the commercial building, there are plenty of trees. we are planning to reserve the main trees, reorganize the groud- floor greening and redesign the unimpressive lanscape design.

Unused Playground Reason why unused is because the site of the playground is not near residential building and the facilitiies are old. we are going to change one of them into preformance place.

Traditional cooked food market the cooked food market need to be reserved because of they it is one of the special elements in Fo tan.

Solving the parking problem The parking space are not enough in Fotan, so if we remove the parking space we need to find another place to resettle them.

The key word here co-work. the square offer a space for the artists and workers communicate together . a place for them to show their work and get into the event to know each other.

The key word here understand . the current situation is that the the resident seldom come the the industry area and unfamiliar with the artist inside the building the square will offer them a place to relax and get informantion with them.

FOR VISITOR AND TOURIST The key word here is “ attraction. because of the big and unusual events happen in Fotan. attract people from different world come together. it is the unusual events that make fotan famous.

GOVERNMENT

The key word here investment.When the events on the square become more popular in HK .the government will invest more money to construct the district. which give Fotan a bright future.

DIFFERENT METHODS HELP YOU KNOW WHAT EVENTS AND WHERE IT HAPPEN IN FOTAN?

THE MAP/THE BROCHURE The map and the brochure can be get at the MRT station and at the square. so that people will understand what workshop or exhibitions are happen in Fotan building.

THE DIGITAL MESSAGE The digital message such as the two dimension code will be show on the screen of the grovenment building, the brochure and the square

THE SIGNPOST the square pattern extend to the important road of the Fotan . so people can follow the pattern on the floor find the square and join in the events happened there.

“Hey, I heard that in the square there have some special cooked foodmarket that is different from otherelse in HK. Let’go to eat!”

People feel convenient that they don‘t need to find another parking space in Fo tan far from the Dining and playground in the Square.

PLANING OF NORMAL DAYS

This is our design plan. we are now not moving the parking space in this area. we still reserve the funtion of the playground but reorganize the location. so that between the playground and the cooked food market, it will have a small square under the tree for people to rest after eating or playing. so normal days,people can Eating，playing and after that they can rest in the small square.

RENEW THE COOKED FOOD MARKET As we are planing to reserve the trees, so we design to combine the cooked food market and trees together ，to make it look like natural and special. also about the interior design, we use some elements that can represent Fo tan industry culture. such as the pipe and the cargo to decorate it. and also artist also can join in painting on the roof.

Things will be different when Festival and Special event comes. the playgroundwill be temporarily utilized by the premission of the policythe floor will bedecorated in Festival pattern and design some big balloons flow in the air. the tourist and the artist and worker in the building can see directly there are some events happen here. and also the events will drive the business of the cook food market.

When Festival comes the pedestrian road way will decoreated of the festival pattern. so that the visitors can follow the pattern find the location of the event.

The plan for design events here is because of the great location between the cook food market, parking area, and the toilet.
