‫נתונים בריאים‬ Paul Bleicher, MD, PhD, is the CEO of OptumLabs, an open, collaborative healthcare innovation center that enables 25+ partners to use big data and machine learning to research and develop solutions for the biggest problems in healthcare. As a serial entrepreneur, Dr. Bleicher has been a founder/leader of two highly successful healthcare data companies, respectively acquired by Oracle and Optum. He has served as a member of the prestigious National Academy of Medicine PAUL BLEICHER, MD, PHD Leadership Consortium on Value and Science-Driven Healthcare and Chief Executive Officer, OptumLabs the Massachusetts Life Sciences Leadership Council. Dr. Bleicher has been the recipient of numerous awards for industry leadership.

RABBI RACHEL COWAN

Former Executive Director, Institute for Jewish Spirituality; Consultant, Wise Aging Program

Rabbi Rachel Cowan, formerly the Executive Director of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, is a consultant to the Institute’s Wise Aging program. She speaks and writes widely on agingrelated topics. Her most recent book, co-authored with Dr. Linda Thal, called Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit, was published in June 2015. She was named by Newsweek in 2007 and in 2010 as one of the 50 leading rabbis in the United States, and by the Forward in 2016 as one of its 50 most influential Jews in America.

In her book, Even the Odds: Sensible Risk Taking in Business, Investing and Life, Karen Firestone explains how risk assessment plays a prominent role in all aspects of life. Karen’s approach is both practical and accessible, helping us understand the broader implications of risk — and how it guides our decision-making — so that we can improve outcomes, from businesses and investments to personal choices. Karen is co-founder of Aureus Asset Management. She spent 22 years at Fidelity Investments, most recently as a diversified fund manager in the Growth Group; she began her Fidelity career as an assistant fund manager to Peter Lynch. Karen is a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review, The Huffington Post, CNBC, and gave a TED talk on practical risk taking.

Carey Goldberg has been the Boston bureau chief of The New York Times, a staff Moscow correspondent for The Los Angeles Times, and a health/science reporter for The Boston Globe. She coauthored the memoir Three Wishes: A True Story Of Good Friends, Crushing Heartbreak and Astonishing Luck On Our Way To Love and Motherhood. Currently, Carey is a health and science reporter at WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, and the editor of WBUR’s CommonHealth blog. She also co-hosted WBUR’s new exercise podcast, “The Magic Pill,” and is the lead reporter for the series “This Moment In Cancer.”

As a former businesswoman and local elected leader, State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg brings innovative leadership, disciplined fiscal management, and an unwavering commitment to ensure economic stability, economic security and economic opportunity for every Massachusetts resident. Elected in 2014, Treasurer Goldberg’s focus is to protect taxpayer dollars, bring new levels of transparency to state government, and advance policies that break down barriers and create economic empowerment. A Brookline native, she served for six years on the Brookline Board of Selectmen, including two as its Chair. Prior to her career in public service, she worked in retail operations, buying, and consumer affairs at The Stop & Shop Companies, Inc., a business her family grew from a small grocery store in the North End. Treasurer Goldberg is a graduate of Boston University, Boston College Law School, and Harvard Business School.

Dr. Groopman and Dr. Hartzband are both on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and are attending physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is a hematologist/oncologist and she is an endocrinologist. Together they have co-authored articles in The New England Journal of Medicine on the changing culture of clinical care. They have addressed the impact of electronic records, uniform practice guidelines, monetary incentives, the Internet, economic language used to describe medical professionals, and the pitfalls of medical decision analysis. They have written for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, as well as for their first book together, Your Medical Mind: How to Decide What is Right for You. In 2011, each received the Humanism in Medicine Award from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.

Massachusetts Director, Sierra Club; Councilor, Newton City Council

Emily Norton serves as Massachusetts Director for the Sierra Club, the largest and most influential grassroots environmental advocacy group in the country. She holds a degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and is an elected City Councilor in her hometown of Newton. Whether lobbying for clean air, clean water, and climate justice on Beacon Hill, or advocating for clean energy in her own community, Emily is passionate about helping citizens across the Commonwealth spur their legislators to take stronger action to mitigate climate change. BECCA PIZZI

First U.S. woman to complete the World Marathon Challenge

Becca Pizzi’s father inspired her to run at the age of six and she has not stopped since. In January 2016, she made history by becoming the first American female to complete the World Marathon Challenge, running seven marathons on seven continents in seven days. Although Becca thrives on the test of endurance and strength, the most important aspect for her is the opportunity to teach her nine-year-old daughter to believe in herself. Becca is on a quest to run a marathon in all 50 states; she has completed 27 so far, including 17 Boston Marathons. Catch her if you can.

You know that kid who took his toys apart and put them back together in weird and wonderful ways? That’s Aithan Shapira. Whether he’s deconstructing one of his paintings or dissecting a challenge for a Fortune 500 CEO, Aithan’s goal is the same: take it apart, then put it back together in ways that bring it to the next level. As an artist, Aithan exhibits internationally and has been a visiting critic and teacher around the world. As a lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Aithan pioneered the top-rated leadership development course through immersion in the arts; co-founded several successful start-ups linking art, business and social enterprise; developed tools for building cultures and systems for success at leading firms including Google and GE; and designed programming for the MIT Media Lab. There is a movement around the country to bring back Jewish Deli, and Rachel Miller Munzer and her partners are a part of it.

With Chef Tyler Sundet’s prolific skills, they opened Mamaleh’s to great acclaim amidst the hot Kendall Square restaurant scene. From classic Jewish dishes like gefilte fish and cold tongue sandwiches to funky nighttime specials of smoked salmon collar and brisket tartare, Jewish Deli has never been more modern or more interesting. Come and shmooz with these two about the restaurant business, the trendy Jewish Deli scene, and whose matzo ball soup is better: Mamaleh’s or your grandmother’s.
