From farm to table On Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 the
Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Team held a grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony for their new members at JAAR Farms, LLC. Located at 148 Canter Lane in Sylva, JAAR Farms is an organic farm growing a variety of vegetables year round. They specialize in salad greens, cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, broccoli,
carrots, beets, strawberries and more. Their products are sold daily at the farm via an honor system store with ipad purchase or at the Jackson County Farmers Market on select Saturday mornings. HONEY PLEASE! Sylva’s Rose and David Massingill of Honey Mountain Bee Farm, were recently awarded a second place prize at the Hive Life Conference in Sevierville, Tenn., for a honey cake made from honey that they make year-round right here in Sylva, N.C. Of his wife’s red ribbon cake, David Massingill said in a Facebook post, “(This was) Rose’s first showing and (she) got second place. Look out, we’re going for first next year!” He added one judge suggested the key to winning first place next year. “They said if she had done a half cup of bourbon she would have got first place,” Massengill said. You might find the Massengills and their honey cake from time to time at the Jackson County Farmers Market. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce in Sylva, N.C., carries small jars of the
